CREATESPACE Antigone and Creon: Guardians of Thebes
S**E
Another winner for Grossack and Underwood!!
Antigone and Creon is a great sequel for those who have read Jocasta: The Mother-Wife of Oedipus, but it can be read on its own. The story opens shortly after the end of the war, with Creon saying that his niece Antigone will never see the light of day again. Poor Antigone was shut away in a cave to die and as a major claustrophobic, I was sweating bullets as I read on hoping beyond hope she would somehow get out!! We then see the events that lead to the war--Eteokles's treachery, the brutality of Alkides, and the death of Oedipus--while Creon experiences constant pressure from some of his nearest and dearest to change his mind. There were plenty of surprises along the way and a very satisfying twist at the end. As with the other books in this series, I was again saddened when I turned the last page! A great read, but now it's over!!! Now I find myself waiting for the next volume to come out--hurry up girls--I need my Tapestry of Bronze fix!!One more great addition that Grossack and Underwood supplied in this book, which REALLY helped me, was a Cast of Characters for easy reference. Many thanks for that!I highly recommend this 5th Volume of a great series!!!SueTucson, Az
