Great Expectations

This book is not just a classic, it looks classic. Great edition and addition to my library.

I purchased the book as a present to be treasured and was prompted by many of the reviews which spoke of the high quality of the cover, pages and silver lining! When it arrived I was very disappointed with the quality and on further reading of the reviews it transpired that the "glowing" ones did not relate to this particular edition. Beware reviews!

The one thing everyone knows about Charles Dickens is that he writes extensively which is why I prefer never to buy his paperbacks. Since his books are good enough to be re-read, reading a huge paperback leaves you with a book that has a broken spine and folded pages. It does not take much for the paperback to fall apart. This collectable edition of Great Expectation is however greater than I had expected. There is little need to comment much upon the content of the book itself since it is a known classic but the Deluxe Hardbound edition of Great Expectation is one of the best versions of this book that one could wish to keep in one’s collection. The cover is attractive, the quality of the pages and print is wonderful. Since Charles Dickens is an immortal writer, an avid reader would always prefer to get a copy of the book that she could keep forever. I have read an Ebook of Great expectations, years ago out of fascination but reading it again while holding a physical book in hand is an altogether different experience. Plus, this book fits in quite nicely with my other collectable editions of classic like Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre.

Beautiful book, I felt like I was taken back in time. A very well written tale about expectations and life’s reality to those wishes.
