It's not soft to work with, but it will soften up in the wash. It's good cotton.

Variation of color
Ordered 4 skeins of "soft ecru". Three of the four are the same color (a very light yellow), which is not what I was expecting. But the fourth was a very light pink color. All four had the same color label - soft ecru. Disappointed but I will work with it.
