If so, should I reduce the amount of coffee as well? or better to buy the 1 cup model?** A: It depends on how much coffee you drink. I bought the 3 cup and did not work for me, I drink a large cup of strong coffe in morning and the amount was not enough. Had to buy a 6 cup maker. Better stick to the 3 cup, just pour about an inch less of water, using the valve as the max water level guide. Enjoy! **Q: Can this be used as a heat diffuser for gas ranges?** A: Yes but there’s no reason to get this one for a gas burner since you don’t need stainless steel or any sort of “magnetic” ferrous alloy for gas. Just sort a search for “heat diffuser” by lowest price first and get whatever is the best deal (after taking shipping into account). Hardened aluminum and such will work fine with gas, and you’ll get a larger one for less money that is useful for more things. **Q: What is Bialetti's answer to all of the customers claiming their product damaged their induction cooktops?** A: Most of the things we put on will scratch our induction cooktops. I have purchased a heat resistant mat to put on first then my pots and pans, including this item.
