After putting the fertilizer in, am I supposed to fill the jar with water? Mine ran out very quickly.

This is a sprayer for liquids. If you have dry fertilizer, you should put in water to the top of the container and shake it to mix before spraying.

Will this sprayer work with a solution of something like Simple Green to spray a walkway?

I have used it to spray cleaning solution (detergents), as long as I kept it a light mix I did ok, but I'm not really sure you should be doing this.

What do they mean by quick hose connect? You still have to screw your hose to it correct?

With the right fitting (connector sold separately) on your hose you can quickly connect the sprayer as it is already fitted with a hose male adapter that quickly snaps to the connector on the hose. Push to connect, and slide the connector to release. Search Amazon for "Quick Connect" to get an idea.
