Favorite kitchen tool!
Love this! I mostly use to chop onions and zucchini and carrots. Perfect for saving time cutting and it cuts the pieces into uniform sizes. Highly recommend if you like to saute vegetables or use onions alot.

Simple and sturdy
I decided to purchase this vegetable chopper after growing tired of taking a century chopping my veggies for lunch/dinner. Okay, I didn't actually take a century but it took far too much time than I was willing to lose out of my day. There were a bunch of options when searching for a chopper online, I decided on the OXO chopper because it was a brand I recognized, and that was enough for me! No, it doesn't have a variety of different interchangeable blades, but that's fine by me! It's great if, like me, you don't have the space to keep those dozen or so interchangeable blades that the other brands come with. I wanted something simple and this was it.It works great and has not struggled even with the hardest of fruits or veggies. All the uniform little food cubes fall right in the attached container, and then you can just pour the goodies out the back opening right into the pot/pan/tray/your mouth/trash wherever.Cleanup is a bit of a mission, but that is the case with every one of these food choppers.Overall I recommend this is you just want a simple, easy, sturdy food chopper.

Easy to clean and use
Easy to use and easy to clean as it can be disassembled and placed in the dishwasher. The device chops well. I have used it for carrots, celery, tomato and onions so far.The only compliant I have is that to get everything out of the bottom, you really need to disassemble the unit. This makes it a bit inconvenient to use for multiple items for a single meal. (Not a major problem, just one that I wish wasn't a problem.)

Not a good choice
I bought this based on a Consumer reports recommendation, but I was misled. I was concerned when there were absolutely no instructions included. The label in the lid saying "Press here to snap purple grid into place" is confusing since pressing there will do nothing, but it did make me curious about removing the grid. It is a cleaning aid. However, after removing and replacing the grid, the first time I closed the device the plastic grid fell off and was cut up by the blades. It will now no longer stay in place as designed, although another reviewer showed a photo of putting it in sideways, which does help, though more difficult to remove. The container is small, so it must be emptied frequently so it does not overflow out the back. "Wet" items, such as tomatoes and other juicy items, stick to it and do not simply pour out. In fact, my experience with tomatoes is not good, since they also get stuck in the blades, or run down the sloped front of the device onto the counter. I could not find out how to take the body of the device apart for cleaning, until I saw another user's video. In short, I would not buy this again. See photos for illustration of some of these issues.

Fantastic and easy
I was given this for Christmas last year and was not sure if I would actually use it. I have had so many different types of choppers, and either they are a pain to clean or they end up actually being difficult to use or something.I wanted it to be easy. I was not sure about this since I did not pick it out myself. It is everything I wanted. It is super easy.Read the directions. They help.In order to clean it all you do is raise the lid and lift it straight off. Then separate the bottom two parts. They seem like they're hard to get apart but practice with it before and you'll see they are super easy. There's also a purple thing that you pull, and it prevents any food getting stuck in the lid.I have developed some little hints that I think work well. I chop the broccoli first because it is the messiest. Everything else after that helps clean all the broccoli off of the chopper.Things like carrots can get stuck but the trick is to put more carrots on top of them which push the first carrots through. Then it's easy.I have not tried onion because I don't care about onion. I have chopped zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and some other vegetables.I make myself vegetable soup every day and I chop enough to last for a few days. I use old (clean!) peanut butter jars to store the chopped vegetables. In the glass jars, the vegetables stay very fresh.I have never washed this in a dishwasher because I don't have a dishwasher but I'm sure this would do very well. It's so nice and such a good value that I ordered three more for gifts. This is the only chopper I have ever used consistently.

Can't handle large onions
I bought this specifically to dice the large yellow onions I cook with virtually every night, but it can't do the job. If you trim the ends and outer layer from a large onion and stand it in the device like the instructions say, it won't fit. If you cut the onion in half and put each flat side down, the blades are not sharp enough to cut through the top layers of onion skin. Worse, what does cut comes out in 1/2" chunks, so big I had to dump them onto my cutting board and hand cut them further for a dice. This device may work for soft fruit or vegetables, but definitely not for more challenging ones with tougher skins. A very rare failed OXO product. Am returning it.

This is my second one! Love it!
This little chopper is perfect for my needs. I like to chop a large red onion to store in a tight glass container in my fridge so I don't have to do it every day when I make my salad. And I do NOT want minced onion because it gets mushy and doesn't store well for more than a day. This chopper chops it small enough for anything I use it for and the onions last over a week in the fridge. I'd still be using the first one I bought, but I messed up the plastic gasket that does such a great job of cleaning the grid area. Cleaning is simple - all pieces go right in the dishwasher (bottom rack, too!) I don't need a chopper with a ton of accessories that I have no room to store - this one does exactly what I need! Love it!!
