Amazing book. Absolute must if you want a high GMAT Quant score. 250+ practice questions - DIVINE!
Loving this book - absolutely recommended you get this if you are serious about getting a high GMAT Quant score. As the title implies, this book focuses on advanced quantitative concepts. It builds on the previous quant strategy guide books, so it's recommended you finish the previous books first. As well, you need a 45+ to be able to use this book effectively. It introduces new tips for tackling quant that I found useful. I wouldn't say it's groundbreaking strategies, but it does delve more into different ways / thought processes to tackle challenging questions. As well, there's many details on the 'traps' that the GMAT tests and this book provides tips to make educated guesses based on the answers provided if needed. The first chapter was kind of a wash (I didn't really understand the top down and bottom ups approach), but I appreciated the detailed way of thinking about approaching problems. There are so many practice questions in this - absolutely amazing for getting a new bank of practice problems! I'm trying to save as many OG problems as I can for closer to the exam date, so getting your hands on high quality material that's similar to GMAT questions is an absolute must! There are a few typos in the book that I was surprised to see. I have the full set of Manhattan Prep's GMAT prep book set and I never noticed a single typo in those books. There are quite a few typos in this one; really obvious ones though, so you won't be confused by why you got the answer wrong. For example, in a data sufficiency (DS) question, it said statement (1) is sufficient and (2) is insufficient, but the answer key will say D - either statements are sufficient. The answer is D (fortunately, I got this right and was absolutely positive because I was able to determine the value), so I didn't get stuck; however, I can see this being a big pain if you get the question wrong and read an answer key with typos! Hoping this gets resolved in the next edition!

Very helpful and highly underrated book
I was unsure whether or not to buy this book because 99% of the reviews were from the Amazon "Vine" program and they are all basically fake five star reviews where you can tell the person hasn't ever looked at the book before reviewing it. However, I'm really glad I bought it and think those reviews do a huge disservice to the book because it has actually been really helpful. So here is an actual verified purchase review. One note: you should already be at 45+ in quant before you use this book or it won't be helpful. The content itself is good at pushing you to the next level of "thinking" and make you better on your feet in completing tough problems in under 2 minutes. They do cover some new ground which I was really surprised wasn't covered in the main 5 Manhattan Prep guides or even in the in-classroom course I took. For example, my weakest area was inequalities and absolute values in data sufficiency and the strategies in Chapter 4 on approaching those (e.g. creating multiple threads of "If |a|<0, then...." or "If |a|>0, then...") changed it so I actually look forward to these problems now. There aren't necessarily many new areas that are covered but the book helps you rethink what problems are really asking. For example, it shifts your understanding of remainder problems as pattern recognition problems or various inequalities as positives/negatives. I also feel a lot more comfortable using Smart Numbers, Testing Cases, and Working Backwards strategies. These are taught in the other guides but I always felt like they weren't really necessary because you're never forced to use them on really tough problems where other methods are impractical. However, I do feel like the guessing strategies aren't really that helpful and can be skimmed. The best part of the book is the 700-800 range only practice problems at the end of each chapter and 150 more in the back across all topics. They're all as tough as the 700-800 level problems that show up on the Manhattan CATs and great at preparing you. I recommend running a 20 minute timer on each of the 10 problem sets in the back of the book to do the problems under real time constraints and spending more time on reviewing the problems afterwards.Overall, I would say I'm very happy with my progress thanks to this book. I'm still preparing for the GMAT but this book has definitely lifted me beyond my score plateau and I feel a lot more comfortable when taking a practice CAT now and to eventually getting to my target score.

This book is a MUST for those who want to hit 47 and higher- Your basics should be clear before you make full use of this book.
This book is a must have.If you want to make full use of this book then order the paper copy and not the kindle version. i say so because the kindle version is cumbersome- you need to turn pages to see solutions and read answers, make notes and highlight tips. With Kindle version, the task of flipping through pages becomes irritating. The book is great and contains some of the best and most tough GMAT like questions. Though MGMAT Quant has reputation of being nasty and hard for average guys like me but I will still refer this book to anyone who wants to improve his quant. Donot get bogged down by the 'toughness' of the problems because the juice is in the solutions which tell you to amend your approach, try numbers and recognize patterns and in other such useful tips .The pleothra of questions on gmat forums confuses many as it is difficult to choose and move on.Important time is lost doing problems from varied sources. I like this book because it contains the questions from the leaders in GMAT prep.-MGMAT. 250+ questions of 700 level are enough for practice and to develop the acumen for GMAT.It is not necessary to time yourself on these questions but to learn from this book. The book also comes with access to two GMAT advanced online question bank containing ten questions each.
