## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are the faber-castell studio quality 128336 soft pastel crayons set of 36 oil or wax based?  on their website it says oil pastels.  are they lightfast**
A: Wax.  I like Rembrandt better because they are softer (but sometimes crumbly).  I haven’t used oil pastels.

**Q: Can these be used in high quality coloring books as a background ?**
A: I use my set for "adult" coloring books!  They work perfectly fine.

**Q: Are these chalk?**
A: They’re not chalk. The color is more vibrant and they’re softer than chalk, so not as brittle. They’re composed of pigment and binder whereas the major component of chalk is limestone. I would not use pastels on the sidewalk and I would not use chalk on paper.

**Q: Does color pencil lay down well on top of these?**
A: Tried it just to reply and no I don't think it does.
