Review: this is the first book to buy to learn German - In fact, in my opinion this series is the best place to start for any language you may want to learn. I’ve used several to prepare for trips abroad, and found them the most efficient in getting to basic functionality compared to any other self-learning method. They all follow the same, highly practical template, teaching the essential vocabulary and grammar you need to get by as a tourist. The genius of the author’s method is its simplicity. You are not confused with subtleties of the language. Verb conjugation is simplified to its most basic form. In fact, she does not even bother with future or past tenses. But in everyday situations you can almost always get your basic message across with just the present tense. She uses some gimmicky but highly effective techniques to make learning fast and actually fun. You will be amazed and encouraged by how quickly you progress if you just go through the approximately one hundred pages in the order presented. Older editions of this or any print book had the major drawback of not exposing you to the sound of native speakers, but the new download feature overcomes this. Another option would be to pair it with a free app like Duolingo for more listening practice. I found I progressed much faster with this book than with Duolingo alone. If you wish to master German, this is not the book for you. But I found it highly effective to achieve basic communication at a bargain price. Review: German 10 Minutes a Day review - This is a good product for any beginner of the language. It is very simple and by the end of the book, you have all the basics down and are ready to move on to a higher level. My only problems with it are that Kershul doesn't explain accents in a word or where the accent (or emphasis) is in each word, but each word is given a pronunciation however. Also, conjugation is a little confusing as it only explains first and third person mostly and in the present tense; Past and future isn't explored much. Good product though for what it costs!

10 min a day that is not a 10 min book! But still a good one
Cool book, I wish it was really separated what is that to do for 10 min today, tomorrow and so on.. I just have to choose where to stop, so I dont actually spend only 10 min, and skip many days... I was looking for something that is kind of separated what is that to do every day. if it a matter of myself separating what to do, then, ANY book can be 10 min a day.

A Great way to learn a language.
Well planned and so much more than a vocabulary book. Grammar is stressed to be able to converse in German, not throw object's names in a broken fashion. I am 83 years old.

Painless German Lessons
I'm using this book to teach a group of senior citicens to speak and understand basic level German. The pictures are great and the exercises are very helpful. The book focuses on learning words and phrases in an organized manner and does not frighten learners with grammar and sentence structure. I think an audio CD would go well with this, just so the audience would have a way to practice at home, or while traveling. Don't let the title mislead you...it takes more than 10 minutes to learn...practicing 10 minutes several times a day will do the trick. With language it's all about repetition.

nice beginner learning experience
I love this series because it is simple, starts with basic vocabulary and then moves into the real learning of a language: verbs! I love that this doesn't skip that like a lot of other texts, or get bogged down in tenses. You may not sound highly educated in another language, yet you will be able to communicate and be understood for the point of your statement/question.

New Okay, but be aware of used book
Excellent book that we use in our German class. Do not recommend getting any of the used books, however. Some people in our class have gotten them and they have notes and writing in them. (Probably should expect that). Also there are several editions of the book so you can end up with a used book that does not match up with the particular (current) edition being used by a class. If you are not intending the book for class usage, it might be okay getting the used book.

Excellent source to learn German
I am currently enrolled in German at University. Unfortunately, text books are not always the best with help making things fun and easier to retain. My German teacher helped me pick this out! It's totally a great buy to help learn German!

Muy bien organizado
Me ha gustado mucho este libro porque es muy útil para el aprendizaje del idioma. Lo único que veo es que no es de un nivel muy alto, más bien intermedio. De todas formas viene bien para repasar contenidos si ya tienes algún nivel. Es también muy atractivo visualmente, ya que esta muy bien ilustrado.
