Depends on a kid
I have 6 year old. I'm desperately trying to stop her from sucking a finger. The polish worked for about 2 days, but after that kid got use to the horrible taste... Does the polish taste horrible? Yes. Did it achieve my goal? No.

Few days In. UPDATE :now a month in
Works great, I’m a chronic nail biter but this rubs off on things so easily. Even a second on my lips it’ll leave it’s horrible taste like a punishment reminding me to no even try, it’ll even stay on the skin of the nail so I don’t bite that either, only thing is that it sometimes leaves it’s taste on food when I eat with my hands and I can’t lick my fingers clean when I eat chips but it’s made for thumbsucking too so it really does work like a charmUpdate: now a month in and it works amazing. Though my nails are extremely fragile and can bend whatever direction. I doubled it with the nail horse nail strengthener but it hasn’t improved much. To be fair it’s been a lifetime of nail biting so it may take a while to gain their strength

Ended 20+ year long nail biting habit
I bought this back in May of 2024. The first picture was where I started with my nail journey. Second picture was a month later June 2024. Last picture is today, June 2025. Just over a year later. This stuff really works. I’ve tried so many different no bite nail polishes and this was the only one that worked. I used it until the urge to bite was gone, around ~2 months if I remember correctly. I reapplied every 2 or so days to keep the polish fresh so it continued to work and have that gross taste and I barely put a dent in the bottle. Now the taste of this thing is gross. If memory serves correct it just tastes really bitter and chemically and lingered for a while on the tongue and lips so it really deterred.I’m so happy I was finally able to kick my nail biting habit that I’ve had for over 20+ years. This and some cuticle oil will take you far.

Effective and Safe Solution for Nail Biting!
I recently started using the Ellie Chase Stop Nail Biting Deterrent Treatment Polish, and I’m genuinely impressed with its effectiveness. This product has been a real game-changer in helping me break the habit of nail biting. The extra bitter taste is just as advertised—extremely unpleasant, which is exactly what I needed to deter me from putting my fingers in my mouth. The taste is strong enough to be a powerful deterrent, but it's not so harsh that it causes discomfort or irritation.I appreciate that this treatment is safe for both adults and kids, making it a versatile option for families looking to tackle nail-biting issues. It’s also reassuring to know that it’s DBP-free and TPHP-free, which aligns with my preference for products with fewer potentially harmful chemicals. The polish applies easily and dries quickly, leaving a clear finish that doesn’t interfere with the appearance of your nails. Over time, I’ve noticed a positive change in my nail growth. Not only am I less inclined to bite my nails, but my nails are also growing stronger and healthier.Made in the USA, this product feels high-quality and reliable. Overall, the Ellie Chase Stop Nail Biting Deterrent Treatment Polish is an excellent tool for anyone struggling with nail-biting. It effectively discourages the habit while supporting healthier nail growth. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to overcome this common issue.

same stuff from when I was a kid, only this time it's working because I want it to :)
I remembered this stuff from when I was little and my mom was trying to get me to stop biting my nails. Well, I did eventually stop, then started again. And stopped. Started again. Stopped. Etc. This last time though I've had a harder time than I ever have with quitting. I felt like I needed something extra because while I've tried to redirect my chewing to a silicone necklace, I keep forgetting it and absentmindedly going to town on my nails without even realizing that's what I'm doing. Then I remembered this stuff, looked it up... here it is!The same awful taste I remember... only this time it's more effective because I want to quit, lol. As a kid, I would just chew off all the nail that had this polish on it without letting my tongue touch any of it, then just go right back to chewing my nails as normal. Now, it actually does deter me from the absentminded snacking, which I wanted it to do. I haven't touched my nails in days now. I don't even try to do it most of the time now. Occasionally I slip, and I get reminded of why I don't bite them now, lol.It wears off within 2-3 days enough that it requires re-application. A big negative about it is if you're eating anything with your fingers that's wet (in my case, it was hot boiled peanuts), it will get into the food that you're eating and make it taste awful too. It is not waterproof in this sense. That awful taste I'm talking about can best be described as a chemical taste, much what I would imagine something like bleach or acetone must taste like.
