Because they naturally degrade
Used in a household that has septic. Microplastics from conventional scrubbing sponges is a real no-no. They take a use or two to become "broken in," but after that they scrub incredibly well, the soft side retains soap lather well and, even after they start falling apart, the pieces work great until, for lack of a better description, they dissolve until they're too small to hold and then you just chuck the remaining bits.

The only ones i buy
These are the only sponges I buy at this point - none of the weird dyes, so I can feel good about buying them (no plastic either!) and composting them when I'm done using them. They're a really resonable price, and a product you can feed good about.

Same look and feel as a regular kitchen sponge.
I really like the idea of less micro plastics going directly down my drain and ending up in the ocean. These have the same look and feel of a regular green and yellow sponge. These aren't quite as durable but it's hard to feel guilty about tossing them in the trash, when you know they're far more environmentally friendly. They do hold up well for how much use they get.

Happily surprised
I've tried a bunch of 'natural' sponges, and have either been disappointed or gone bankrupt :) I took a chance on these guys and have been super happy. The sponge part is very much like a traditional cellulose sponge - it doesn't feel like a 'manufactured' sponge like other brands I've tried. absorbs water well. Holds dish soap. Dries out quickly enough. Sponges last pretty long before they start to look dirty or have a sponge odor. The scrub size is interesting. Scrubs things well enough - bottom of pans or dried on material on dishes. I haven't used these long enough to see if it scratches over time but have not yet seen any issues. Only drawback is the backing is a little stuff until you use the sponges for 2-3 washes - then it is fine.Happy with these guys, and will continue to use these sponges. Great feel, long-lasting, and a good price per spong.

Holds up well!
The media could not be loaded. The Zen Living Natural Sponge is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking an eco-friendly and durable kitchen sponge. After using these sponges for two weeks, I'm impressed with how well they hold up. Despite daily use for washing dishes and scrubbing countertops, they maintain their shape and scrubbing power. I also love that they're non-scratch, so I don't have to worry about damaging my cookware or plates. These sponges are biodegradable and made from plant-based materials, making them a great eco-friendly alternative to traditional sponges. Plus, they don't retain odors like other sponges do. The 6-pack is great value, providing plenty of sponges for long-term use. If you want a strong, eco-conscious sponge, this one is a winner!

very pleased
The last time I bought a sponge like this it lasted almost an entire year if you can believe that! So these things are super durable. They are at least as functional as a traditional sponge. In fact I feel like the partially natural fibers on the scrubby side are even more durable. As with all sponges make sure that you squeeze it out completely dry and stand it up on its edge on the counter when you're done using it. Get all of the junk off of it. If you do this your sponges will last like six months. You can also run them through the dishwasher and then take them out and squeeze them dry and treat them as you normally would. The dishwasher will heat it and sanitize any germs.

Durable and doesn't smell bad!
It took me well over a year to use up a 12-pack and I'm finally reordering. I probably could have stretched it longer if I didn't have a super greasy sticky stove and hood to clean every few months. It scrubs well and pretty durable. This is the first sponge that I've used that doesn't smell bad after multiple usage. The best way to keep this sponge smelling neutral for a long time after using it is by rinsing it well and drying it. Don't leave it soaking wet. I've seen other similar looking sponges selling for cheaper but since I know how well this brand works, I'm ok paying a couple bucks more.
