Hurtta Expedition Parka, Winter Dog Coat, Buckthorn, 32 in

I LOVE Hurtta coats for all three of mine: 2 tiny Maltese (4 lbs a piece) and my 95 lb GSD--who honestly doesn't need a coat...but he has one, because I'm a silly dog mama and he's much loved :P My GSD just has a Hurtta raincoat, my two littles have this Expedition Parka (as well as a Hurtta raincoat)...but the parka gets more wear...it's waterproof and warm enough I don't need to layer another shirt under it...but it's adjustable enough that another fleece shirt could fit if needed.There are a few things that are so special about Hurtta coats, including this one: they're nice enough to be YOUR coat (they're also expensive enough to be your coat, ha), and the adjustable fit makes ALL the difference. The breastplate/waist adjustment is just flawless in my eyes...it makes for such a perfect fit. My girl is long and skinny (4 lbs 6 ounces), she wears the 10 in. My little guy (4 lb Maltese) is shaped like a square with his short back but deep chest, he wears an 8 inch. The 2 adjustments around the neck are perfect and prevent my skinny girl's front legs from popping out the front when she runs, jumps or climbs. And they're warm enough for my tiny, finely haired Maltese to deal with temps in the 30's.Anyway, thank you Hurtta for making REAL coats even for the tiny dogs. So many brands just forget about the toy breeds, but they love being outside too, even if they're not built for it...which makes it all the more important to have legit outerwear for them.

We have two dogs, one with a more stout build and broad chest and the other with a skinny lanky build. This coat fits them boath well. It covers the back and chest pretty thoroughly and still leaves the important bits open enough they have no issues doing their business. The fabric feels durable and warm. I'll update the rating if it starts to fall apart. We've gone through a couple $40 coats at this point so I'm hoping this one will last.

I like the fit and the color. Perfect length for him. The width slightly big, had to almost adjust to smallest but still worked out perfectly. He looks comfortable in it.

First day with the new coat, we are very happy. Very easy to put on and take off. Very warm. Wish we had found years ago for our 16 year old senior. Highly recommend, true to size…. Follow the measurements. I did get too large with first order, second fits like a glove just in time for cold snap. Highly recommend. Our pup seems to like it too. Worth the extra cost. :)

My dog loves it. It's long enough in the neck to cover her ears and it fits snug enough so our other dog doesn't tear it off of her

Perfect for my Italian greyhound for our Wisconsin winters. We paired this with a fleece body suite underneath and she’s nice and warm and dry!

I camp in southern Alabama from October to February.. my dog needs a warm and well fitting parka .. I was very happily surprised with this parka and it fits so well!! It’s easy to adjust and to put on! My dogs back measures 27 inches and on a hint from my sister who has one, and the reviews featured here, I ordered the 24 inch and It fits perfectly!! My dog in this picture weighs 50 lbs and the 24 inch is a great fit for her! I’m very happy with this purchase.

Superb designers for this jacket!I was able to put her out to potty and play for most of the day without her getting hypothermic. Despite cold ears and toes the skin behind her front legs was warm to touch even on the night I fell asleep and left her out for a good 4 hrs when before she could barely last a half hour.You can adjust the fit at both the neck and shoulders to reduce drafts or conversely allow more ventilation for cooler temperature control after exercise. There is also an elastic band on the spine of the rear panel that can also be shortened or lengthened to control the amount of drape over the dog’s butt.If your dog will stand still there are also soft elastic straps to help keep the rear panels over the rear legs of a bouncy dog. I removed them because I will never use them as I need to be able to get the jacket on and off in under 2 seconds but I can see them being useful in another situation and have kept them to sew back on if I need them for another dog.A warning for more athletic dog owners: my girl can take this off on her own when she gets too hot and the other dogs will grab the jacket and remove it and treat it as a toy if they are left unsupervised.I definitely recommend this jacket for dogs who don’t have the body weight or ability to keep themselves warm in cold weather.

My spaniel has mild hip dysplasia so keeping warm is really important jacket was a little big around the chest strap but tightens enough around to hold jacket in place.Love the large leg coverings as they cover the whole of his hind leg especially his hip. He is happy wearing as well it as he can be a bit nervous and he hasn't had many experiences with wearing a coat.Very good fit that allows for lots of movement so he can run even withthe leg straps. Cheaper coats don't fit and the move out of place even when walking.Thank you.

Perfect for the British winter.Covers my little dog very well, as it wraps around underneath.Keeps her warm in high winds and dry in heavy downpours.It's very warm, so should only really be used in cold weather. They have thinner items for rain or slightly warmer days.

Size 10" (25 hurtta sizing) perfect for adult chihuahua. Best quality coat I've found in a small size that is actually suitable for outdoor, cold wet weather so is well worth paying extra for. The two smaller sizes (10/8inch) have harness built in so no extra bulk for them to wear underneath the coat.

Brilliant coat. Having worked my way through several cheaper costs it was definitely worth investing in this coat. Great quality, easy to take on and off. Lovey colour.

Finally baught my first hurtta. Anything else is a waist of money. Strong, soft and very warm. Well worth it for winter months for short haired lurcher.
