Beloved Food Network and Cooking Channel star Ellie Krieger knows the secret to healthy eating: it has to be delicious. You won't eat right if you feel deprived. WEEKNIGHT WONDERS offers 150 recipes for your favorite foods, as delicious as ever, yet magically reworked without all the fat and cholesterol. Each recipe can be prepared with minimal fuss and simple ingredients, even after a long day at work, in 30 minutes or less. From Parmesan Chicken Breasts and Goat Cheese Frittata (plus no-guilt desserts), you can stay focused on eating well any day of the week. Review: Yum - you'll want to try every recipe! - One of the few cookbooks that is filled with recipes I actually want to prepare. I like that it includes a list of all the pantry staples you need to prepare every recipe in the book. Recipes include common grocery items, no weird ingredients that are hard to find. The recipes are a little too low-cal for a family member who needs extra calories, but it's easy to adjust the recipes for that by using whole milk instead of 2% for example. I also like that Ellie's recipes are easy to follow for real world meal prep - no mise en place needed, just pull your ingredients out and in about 30 minutes you have dinner. I prefer a photograph for each recipe because it's hard for me to visualize otherwise, only about 1/3 of the recipes have a photo included. Each recipe serves 4 and includes nutritional information, which is very helpful when you are counting calories or need excellent/good sources of specific vitamins and minerals. Review: Love Ellie's books - Love Ellie's books. These meals are easy and delicious and most fit my clean eating diet. She has a newer book that tells how to freeze and store-a feature I wish this book had but have managed to figure out on my own. Her recipes are easy, tasty, healthy, and worth repeating. I have passed books around to friends and coworkers-many who loved them so much they are buying their own copy. I have about a dozen favorites from each book and several more to try-can't wait! BTW, I also find I can play around with the recipes to my own taste or based on what I have. I substituted dates for figs and almonds for pine nuts in a salad. Still perfect. Couldn't find sherry vinegar and substituted white wine vinegar-tasted great. I am not a good cook on my own but the simplicity and versatility of her recipes has given me confidence in the kitchen.

My new favorite cookbook
Weeknight Wonders is, simply, a great addition to any cookโs collection. Ellie Krieger's recipes for deliciously flavorful, easy, healthful meals contain plenty of good-for-you foods like fruits, veggies and whole grains. But the author's strength is that she understands how to enhance the flavors of simple wholesome foods by combing them with herbs, citrus, ginger, nuts, garlic, cheese, spices, etc., to elevate them to a whole new level. Some of her combinations are a little surprising, in a good way. I love salmon but wouldnโt have thought to pair it with rhubarb salsa. Itโs delicious! I have made more than two dozen recipes from this book thus far, and my husband and I have enjoyed every single one of them. Iโm looking forward to more cooking with Ellie Krieger.

Another Batch of Good Recipes
This is another group of very good recipes from Ellie Krieger BUT many of them take longer than 30 minutes, some much longer. I have been cooking for over 40 years and I can move through the kitchen pretty quickly, but there are some of these recipes that take between 45 and 60 minutes to prepare. Perhaps if some prep were done in advance, the thirty minute timeframe is realistic. Still we have enjoyed the recipes in this book. I use it often but allow more time to get dinner on the table.

wonderful, simple and tasty
This is my #1 favorite cookbook now, and I feel lucky to have found it. I had done many searches on Amazon for keywords such as "simple, healthy dinners" but somehow never came across this one. Then one of my facebook friends posted a link to it and as soon as I saw it and read the description, I pretty much knew it would be fantastic. The things I like about it are that it IS simple, the recipes can be made in 30 minutes or less, plus they are healthy but do not taste like "diet recipes." I had planned to work my way through the book one recipe at a time, but there was already one I liked so much that I made it twice in about 3 weeks. (It's the one with the quinoa, corn and sausage). I don't have that much weight to lose but I have struggled with a few extra pounds. This cookbook plus watching my calories the rest of the day has helped me lose 3-4 pounds. I had realized that in the evenings, I was just eating mindlessly and never feeling satisfied. Now I can eat one portion of one of these dinners, know how many calories I am taking in, and plus I feel satisfied so I don't fall into the trap of mindless snacking the rest of the evening.

I hope I'm wrong!
I absolutely adore Ellie and I have all of her other cookbooks. I was hoping Weeknight Wonders would be something I could recommend to family and friends, but sadly most of the recipes just did not look like things they would eat. She uses every day ingredients but in many odd combinations and putting fruit in main dishes and quite honestly as I skimmed through it I saw much my husband probably will not be happy about eating. I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but I just know if I put "salmon with rhubarb" in front of him its the type of dish that will make him squirm before it even hits his mouth. I hope I'm wrong because I love her and her food philosophies!

Wondeful cookbook
I could not be without this book. The recipes are easy to do, flavorful and just right when it comes to healthy amounts of servings and calories. I have all of Ellie's books and think they are all great. A new way to cook with all the flavor and much healthier then traditional cooking methods. Very good ideas on what to serve with a particular dish. She highlights what nutrients are the "stars" in the recipe and there is a calorie breakdown which I appreciate as I track my foods.

Healthy meets delicious and easy
I'm a big fan of Ellie Krieger and this book doesn't disappoint. This is not an over-the-top, make everything from scratch, buy from the health food store type of book. It's sensible, quick and easy recipes that use everyday pantry items. No special equipment or shopping trips needed. Favourites are the Open Face Mediterranean Salmon on pita, the Apricot Teriyaki Chicken and the Steak Fajitas. This is my go-to weekday meal ideas book.
