Sparkalloid vs Chitosan ... is one better than the other? I notice they're both positive charged fining. Just trying to decide which to go with. ty

Not familiar with Chitosan. Sparkalloid works well for me. Don't forget Bentonite to filter the negative charged.

What is the shelf life??

Thank you for your inquiry. If you kee the sparkolloid in a cool, dry, air tight container it will be good for at least a year. If not longer.

Will this work to clear beer also?

I don't know, don't make beer but principle should be the same. I would try a gal size amount first before dumping it in a big amount.

Will this change or add the/a flavour to my finished wine?

i used it for a batch of homemade white wine- and the addition of the recommended amount really worked well in the final stages of finishing the wine. In comparison to commercial wine kits, i think it was similar and I noted no aftertaste. I did add some sulfite at the end to stabilize the wine.
