That was one of the reasons I bought it. I keep mine in the ECO setting and the fan only comes on if the temperature is well below your setting temp. Once the difference is less it doesn't even come on. I am very happy with mine and I heat a space about 18' x 24'. I've been keeping the thermostat set at 72°F and it's been keeping my room between 65° and 70°F while it's been in the teens every night. **Q: Besides the heating elements what material holds the heat? Oil?** A: No oil in this unit, it doesn't need it because it is always ON. In the ECO setting, it warms the room and then steps down the power to whatever is required to hold the temp you set. You would think that would make it burn more electricity, but actually by holding the room at the set temperature, the walls stay warm and less electricity is needed. Wonderful invention. **Q: How is the heat being released? And will it dry the air? I suffer from dry eyes and cannot handle heaters that simply blow hot air.** A: Unfortunately it does blow some hot air but it's not too bad. Probably not a great option for your eye condition though. We do have a humidifier in the same room with the heater and it does help a little, but our apartment is very very dry... **Q: Is the case plastic or metal? Did it smell when you started using it? Thx!** A: Case is metal. Very slight odor on initial start. Dissipates in short time. The heater works very well and is very cosmetically appealing compared to some. Wall or floor mounted. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Very pleased that this heater is so effective *by on Reviewed in the United States 18 February 2017* I based my decision about buying this heater on reading the reviews posted here. So, here is my review now that I own it.I was looking for a small heater to augment the house wide forced air system that heats our basement. I wanted to bring the basement temperature up about 3 to 5 degrees to make it closer to the temperature in the rest of the house. I was not sure this unit could do that and am pleasantly surprised that it can. Here are the specifics ...- The area that I wanted to boost the temperature in is located in the basement - the area is about 670 square feet.- The basement is below ground on three sides - Walls are 10" thick reinforced concrete with an inner wood stud wall filled completely with 3-1/2" thick spray foam insulation ... The basement is very "tight."- Forced air ducts supply three diffusers in the space but this ductwork cannot get the room above 66 degrees.- I wanted the DeLongi heater to get the room up to between 68 and 70 degrees.Results:- Set on the HIGH setting with the fan, I can get the room up to 68 degrees after about three hours and it remains at 68 degrees. When I had the heater set to 69 degrees, it took five hours to get the room up to 70 degrees and then it held that a steady temperature. (The outside temperature was about 24 degrees at that time.)- Not sure yet what the impact will be on the electric bill.- Very pleased that this heater is so effective.- The modern, sleek design fits right into the room and looks great.- I plan to mount it on the wall when additional construction work is done in the room.Packaging - The heater arrived in perfect condition. Unlike another review that I read, Amazon packed it in an outer shipping box that provided extra needed protection for the unit during shipping.Bottom Line: Very pleased with the quality, design and effectiveness of this little heater. It works well to augment the heat in a room of over 600 square feet.
