Q: The directions on the box are vague and unclear. where can i find precise and thorough directions? as well as recipes? unusable without these items.

I simply looked at videos online of others who have used them. They must be put on a tray or they will leak all over if you do not monitor them. The syringe is a 1 inch opening that drawer out you must hold it straight and suction by pulling up and pushing down quickly. Some only want to draw slowly and it won't work that way. You will see bubbles moving. Do it near a sink. I think they work great once you know how to use them. After the first week you don't have over flow issues.

Q: Are the fementing lids reusable?

Absolutely reusable. In my opinion they are the best on the market...and I've used many styles for fermenting. These rank #1 with me.

Q: The brine is coming out of the top cente red area of the lid after a couple days. What am I doing wrong? There was space between the brine and the cap

Not sure why brine would be coming out unless the jar was over-filled. I used my lids and didn't have any problems, and I left headspace of about 1-1/2" . Were the lids accidentally cross-threaded or not tightened down all the way?

Fermentation weight in fact is not a must for Fermenting process,but please noted if you do not use glass weight,you should make sure your veggies below the brine during fermenting process.This is also the effect of glass weight. Even so,we still suggest you use glass weight,since it is much more convenient for making pickles to keep veggies below the brine.
