Looks great on white or cream paper. It's got low water resistance, but if you want to use it on Christmas envelopes, just rub a dab of Micro-Glaze on it. Just a little Micro-Glaze goes a long way. This will essentially waterproof it so the ink won't smear during postal handling. This is a well-behaved ink in fine point nibs, but you might try it in a stub nib or broader nib to make the best use of this rich color. It doesn't dry fast (7 second dry time on HP Laser Jet 32 # paper), but if you're careful, that won't be an issue. For left handed writers, the ink smear factor will depend on the way you grip your pen. If you are an overhand lefty, this might not be the best bet for you. If you're a lefty whose grip mirrors a standard right hand grip, you'll be fine. Is it just the tree sap?** A: No, tree sap. Just blood extracted from dragons. **Q: Will this ink wash out of clothes or carpet? Is it suitable for a 9 year old boy?** A: I am very careful with any ink; I have gotten a little of this on my fingers when I was cleaning my fountain pen. It washed off with soap & water and some scrubbing. It's great ink but I would not chance getting it on textiles and expecting it to wash out.
