Diamine 30ml Fountain Pen Ink - Red Dragon

This ink is absolutely beautiful and is definitely on the wetter side and behaves well in pens. I highly recommend it. It looks like fresh blood, so if you're looking for a Halloween kind of color, then this would qualify. Diamine Oxblood gives more of a dried blood color. You're welcome.

Nice dark red, but brighter than Oxblood. Looks great on white or cream paper. It's got low water resistance, but if you want to use it on Christmas envelopes, just rub a dab of Micro-Glaze on it. Just a little Micro-Glaze goes a long way. This will essentially waterproof it so the ink won't smear during postal handling. This is a well-behaved ink in fine point nibs, but you might try it in a stub nib or broader nib to make the best use of this rich color. It doesn't dry fast (7 second dry time on HP Laser Jet 32 # paper), but if you're careful, that won't be an issue. For left handed writers, the ink smear factor will depend on the way you grip your pen. If you are an overhand lefty, this might not be the best bet for you. If you're a lefty whose grip mirrors a standard right hand grip, you'll be fine. NOTE: when I refer to "standard right hand grip" I simply mean a right handed grip in which the fingers are toward the top of the page and the wrist is not cocked over the writing surface. I just don't know any other way to convey the grip. Lovely ink. Diamine inks have always worked well for me. I also use Diamine Oxblood, Aurora Borealis, and Earl Grey.

This color is super nice. Dries somewhat quick and flows nicely.

Diamine. Well behaved inks generally speaking. Red Dragon is a nice deep red with hints of brown. Has a wee bit of sheen on fountain pen friendly paper when dry, but it's not a sheen monster like some of the inks from Organic Studio. Flows well in all the pens I have tried it in. Everything from a EF Asian to a B European, the down sides are the size of the opening in the bottle. Bigger nibs / pens are a wee bit tricky to fill sometimes, and I was hoping the this red would have been the red that I have been looking for. I must say that the difference between the color swatches seen on the computer screen to IRL is very marked. On the screen the swatches (I compared different images from several different sources) appeared to be that fresh hemoglobin that was just starting to oxidize, but it's more brownish than that.Alas, my search for the red I seek continues. However, I would recommend this ink. Just remember to follow proper fountain pen hygiene with all your pens.Wouldn't use this for business correspondence but for everything else.. You betcha!

This color belongs in what I think is the "trinity" of dark red colors from Diamine: Writer's Blood, Oxblood, Red Dragon.Comparing swatches side by side of all three, this color makes Writer's Blood look brown, with Oxblood not that far off. By itself, Red Dragon looks like a wonderful deep red, that resembles a shade of blood itself, so it should of been called Dragon's Blood. I guess everyone has their own idea of what a blood color should look like, but if you're looking for a vibrant red that pops, this isn't it. If you don't particularly like a vibrant red ink, this color is deep enough to stray away from looking too bright, but still remaining undeniably red.

Love the red color. I was looking for a color that was close to Blood of Christ in color and it hit spot on! Perfect for my church & Bible notes.

Pretty similar to Candy Apple Red. Super nice color. Flows smooth in most of my pens.

Like all Diamine inks, this is a high quality ink with superior colour, smooth flowing and consistent in tone and coverage. I regularly run it through a fine and a medium point with no problems whatsoever and have even used it in a chisel tip for some calligraphy detailing. It might not be as cheap as a pack of cartridges from your local supermarket, but it's more economical than some other premium brands - I'm looking at you, Noodlers and J. Herbin - and gives your writing a colourful individuality, even if you only want it to make your signature stand out.

Truly a gorgeous red! Flows beautifully and its a pleasure to write with. I like this shade much better than Oxblood and Writer's Blood. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bright saturated Red.

Usé la tinta para escribir con mi estilográfica y también para dibujar. Es una tinta con un color rojo sangre muy alegre y brillante. Lo que desconozco es si tiene pigmentos para que los dibujos duren en el tiempo, pero es un placer escribir o dibujar con estas tintas de Diamine.

This ink has risen to be a favourite of mine. Red Dragon and Safari <EF> is a beautiful combination. I use it daily, love it.
