This lotion seriously saved my skin after a weekend of too much sun. I had some pretty uncomfortable peeling and dryness on my shoulders and chest, and this Burt’s Bees After Sun Lotion worked so well. It’s super soothing, absorbs quickly, and doesn’t feel greasy at all — just clean, cooling hydration. The aloe and coconut oil combo is perfect. It calmed the redness right away and made my skin feel soft and nourished. I even used it on my face without any irritation, which is rare for me with after-sun products. I love that it’s 98.9% natural and free from all the stuff I try to avoid (like parabens and SLS). Definitely keeping this stocked all summer long — highly recommend if you’re dealing with sunburn, peeling, or just need a gentle, hydrating lotion post-sun!

I purchased this product due to my inability to provide my skin with appropriate sun protection one day this summer (it has been a few years since I have experienced such levels of sun on a regular basis). I proceeded to spend a night wishing that I could safely freeze myself into an ice cube (which I am positive I would have melted out of in a matter of minutes). Midnight discomfort lead me to this product. The initial use was a day or two after the day of regret, but it eased the discomfort and moisturized my reddened skin, helping to soften the leather layer I had started to form. Of course this review would not be complete without me faulting myself a second time. Two times in one summer I proved my inability to adult well. I applied this lotion the MINUTE I realized that I had experienced another exposure to the sun for too long a period (aka: is it hot in here or is it just my shoulders). To my absolute joy, this product relieved my discomfort. It left a layer that stayed cool for a few hours (at which time I reapplied it), it was a little tacky to the touch (not sticky or oily), and my skin did not experience the crocodile and subsequent peeling experience it had earlier in the season. The scent is soft and not overpowering. I have experienced skin sensitivity in the past to products, but I had no issues with Burt’s Bees products. Does an excellent job of moisturizing my dry skin after a day in the sun. Prevented peeling from a light sunburn. The consistency is slightly runny but the skin absorbs it nicely and it doesn’t feel greasy. The reason I didn’t give it five stars is because the scent isn’t that great. My son said it smells a bit like cleaner. But overall it’s a good after-sun lotion.

I heard this was great for treating a sunburn. It really is. It calms down red sunburned skin. It has a nice fresh smell. My skin is sensitive and did really well with this. No irritation on my sunburned shoulders. I recommend!

Love it! Not to thick, and great quality. No greasy feeling, applies smoothly. And it helped ease a sunburn on my 8 year old to the point he kept asking to have it applied. Definitely worth the cost too.

This stuff feels amazing after a sunburn. It definitely helps reduce peeling. I’ll also use it on dry skin. It is a little oily, but feels so nice and hydrating.

best product i've ever use for treating sunburn. works great on sensitive skins too. i have not peeled from a sunburn since i started using this product 10 years ago. i just slather it on after being in the sun and it re-hydrates my skin, so i keep the tan, and don't look like i'm molting. reduces itching, heat radiating, and pain associated with sunburn. used it from top of head to soles of feet. works great on all areas. wish i could find it in stores. i may just buy in bulk, so i always have a supply. if you work in the sun, and don't like all the negative effects of sunburns, this is your solution. just apply as soon as you can after being in sun. does have a mild scent, but more of combination of ingredients than and actual scent additive. completely recommend to anyone, anywhere that spends time in sun and may get sunburned. i've tryd using before going out in sun, doesn't work, only after being in sun. this is for all of us that dont bother with SPF's and just head out. this is for us.
