Status Audio OB-1 Open Back Studio Monitor Headphones

I ended up returning these because they are on the heavy side, but I am still giving them a 4 star review because they sound awesome, have amazing customer service and the price is right.2/5 Comfort: these are heavier than other headphones I am used to and unfortunately I never got used to them. They put a slight pressure on my ear and I returned them for this reason.5/5 Sound: The bass is deep, the notes are clear and these sound killer. I thought the sound was better than the Bose soundlink and blew away $300 ultimate ears earbuds.5/5 Price: Amazing price for quality, the box they came in was nice and the customer support was awesome.Comparison to Bose Soundlink: The Bose are about $100 more, the sound on these Status is just as good if not better, but the Bose are light and extremely comfortable. I use headphones for work and comfort is the most important component to me. I had to return these for my comort preference, but I can absolutely recoomend trying these to see if they work for you.

I think these headphones are great, almost perfect. I never really understood what 'sound stage' was until I listened to these headphone. I like being able to hear the world around me while I am listening to my music. If I had to nitpick about these headphones it would come from a lack of detachable wire. Since I got these, I have used them for hours on them, they are comfortable enough that I didn't have any problems wearing them for so long. But I don't use them as studio monitors, I use them as my main headphones, so I use them with my computer, with my iPad and with my cellphone. I just wish I could detach the wire and use shorter wires, or even a wire with a mic for when I have them connected to my cellphone. So my problem comes from using them for more than they are intended to be used, but they just sound so good that I can't help want to use them all the time.

Purchased these after reading a review by some random blogger. In the bloggers review he compared these headphones with much more expensive offerings. I decided I will see for myself...and that is exactly what I did.I was using a pair of audio technicas...one of the 275-300 priced models that I absolutely loved. There was no way status audio could compare with my magnificent audio technicas. That is what I told myself over and over as I waited for the status cans to arrive.Upon arrival, the box the headphones comes in looks the part of the more well known brands. Clean design, makes you feel like you have made a sound investment. Opening the box, you are greeted with a rather plain looking set of headphones. They are not as flashy as the audio technicas...not even close. As I looked them over though I noticed how solid they felt. Hinges felt strong...soft foamy parts were well placed and seem durable. Everything you would look for in a high priced set of headphones can be found on the status audio headphones...just without the glitter.I have a large head...and good sized ears. The status headphone fit well and stay put. The open back design actually feels cooler to my head than other closed backs...which is nice. I wore them for about 3 hours the first day and about 4 hours the second day...not once did I have any discomfort.These sound amazing. Flat out, no bulls***...no ramping up to some perfect comment about them...buy these now. I watched a scene in a movie where there was lighting going on and had to stop the movie and take a look outside. The way these headphone present sound to your head is just...natural sounding. Treble levels are perfect, nice punch of bass (bass heads will not like these, although they do a better job than my closed back audio technicas) and just so...warm and natural. I really don't have the words to describe these headphones...they are just magically brilliant.For this price point, you can not find better. In the 200-300 price point you would be hard pressed to find better. Even if you are really into audio and leave your super expensive stuff at home...get these to travel with. Do it.

Nicely made but a little disappointing on the audio side. The OB-1s are certainly good but not as good as other reviews lead you to believe. They are a little muffled/muddy sounding compared to better phones but not bad for $80. I would still rate the Grado SR60e as significantly better sounding at the same price. Add the L-cush pads to the SR60es and they are more comfortable and have a better sound stage and the margin increases still further. On the positive side the OB-1s look great, are pretty comfortable as is, and sound pretty good. The Grados sound significantly better but look kind of retro dorky & somewhat cheap, and with the stock earpads are a little less comfortable. As others have mentioned, the cord is long and doesn't work that well as a portable set. To sum up, good but lacking definition and detail compare to better phones, certainly an ok choice if you want a well made set of phones at this price point..Other phones I use regularly: HE-500, K701, SR325i, HD650, SR60i.

Primär als Gaming Headphones gedacht und dabei herrausragend.Nach langem Testen verschiedener offener und geschlossener Kopfhörer (Sennheiser, ATH, Sony, Phillips, Beyer) habe ich mich aufgrund des ausgeglichenen Klangbilds, dem hohen Tragekomfort, der enormen Soundstage und, natürlich, des Preises im Vergleich mit der Konkurrenz für die OB-1 entschieden.Der Klang is klar, ausgeglichen und mit für offene Kopfhörer überraschend kräftigem Bass. Als offene Kopfhörer (Open Back) sind sie natürlich nicht wirklich klangisolierend, doch muss man schon bei hoher Lautstärke mit dem Ohr direkt daneben sein, um von außen klar zu hören, was sich innen abspielt. Sie sind demnach nicht die dezenten Begleiter für die Straße und U-Bahn, aber das war auch nicht der Zweck. Trotzdem sind sie leise genug, um nicht in der Nacht schlafende Menschen einen Raum weiter zu stören.Die Raumwahrnehmung und Ortung von Klängen ist aufgrund der großen Soundstage, dem wahrgenommen Raum, in dem sich der Klang ausbreitet, großartig, selbst über einfaches Stereo ohne Surround Headphone Converter.Die Qualität ist gut, die Materialien hochwertig, besonders die sanften "Plüsch"-Ohrmuscheln bieten sehr angenehmen Tragekomfort, selbst bei stundenlangen Sitzungen mit Brille und zusätzlicher 3D Brille darüber.Zwei kleine Mankos:1. Das nicht austauschbare Kabel, das mit beiden Ohrmuscheln fest verbunden ist und dann in ein widerstandsfähiges, dickes 3m Kabel vereint wird. Somit können die Kopfhörer nicht als Headset mit Mic benutzt werden, aber das war auch nicht ihre Intention.2. Die in schwarzem Relief auf schwarzem Plastik geschriebene Kennzeichnung von linker und rechter Ohrmuschel machen es anfangs in dunklen Umgebungen bei den komplett symmetrischen Kopfhörern schwer zu erkennen, welche Muschel auf welches Ohr soll (Wenn man die Muscheln um 90° dreht und auf die offene Rückseite der Muscheln blickt, dann ist "Right" rechts und "Left" links.)Insgesamt aber für den Preis und Zweck (Gaming ist ja generell ein eher stationäres Vergnügen) im Klang wohl schwer zu übertreffen, und deshalb eine klare Empfehlung für preisbewusste Hörer (selbst Audiophile mit begrenztem Budget sollten hier ihre Freude finden), die in einer ruhigen Umgebung guten, ausgeglichenen und räumlich weiten Klang genießen möchten und können.

Verarbeitung gut und Soundqualie ist auch gut nur etwas schwerer als die TOP KH wie Sennheiser, AKG usw. Eignet sich sehr gut als einstieg in die Audiophiele Welt des Muzikhörens.Lieferung... naja hat bei mir 6 Wochen gedauert ( 3 W. Transport und 2 W. beim Zoll) das ist net so toll und ich musste Geld für den Zoll (25€) draufzahlen(böser Zoll).Was besonders herausstricht bei diesem KH ist die Soundstage ( alles Klingt so weit) perfekt zum Spiele spielen , da die Ortung im Spiel so gut ist braucht man keinen Surround Sound. Sehr robust ist der KH daher wird ehr sehr lange halten und genügsam ist er auch kann vom Smartphone wunderbar angetrieben werden.

Ich wollte den ob-1 und ich habe den cb-1 bekommen. Vielleicht muss ich es zurück schicken und vieder bestellen. Aber ich will diese kopfhörer zu kaufen, weil mein freund hat auch eine und es ist perfect für music mixing. Billig und klingt einfach super flat. CB-1 ist ganz ganz anders...

Una pena que no estén ya disponibles, porque es una compra totalmente recomendable. Vale cada euro que pagas.Un sonido parecido a los HD 650, un escalón por debajo, obviamente, pero estás pagando 6 veces menos. Calidad-precio de 10. Lo digo después de haber probado más de 20 auriculares de entre 50 y 300 €.

Buena compr, válidos tanto para escuchar música como para jugar al ordenado, ya que no llegan a aislar del exterior.
