Nice and bright. The battery pack is simple but it does the trick. You'll be the coolest engineer in the lab with this bad boy hooked up to your optivisor!

I wish I would have bought this sooner! I use an optivisor for guitar repairs. This light attachment is a tremendous help by eliminating shadows on my workbench lights and I don't have to maneuver my head in odd ways to see what I'm doing. It even comes with an elongated screw if you have an Optilupe attachment. Worth every penny.

This product adds a much needed enhancement to the venerable yet outstanding OptiVisor. The 6 LEDs are bright white (in the 5-6K range) and should last a very long time considering the efficiency LEDs are known for.The LED assembly attaches on top of the lenses and uses the existing screw holes. The kit includes a pair of non-threaded plastic fasteners (plugs) that secure the lens-LED sandwich to the visor. It seems reasonably secure but not nearly as secure as the metal nut-and-bolt fasteners that came with the OptiVisor. I'll be replacing those with metal ones as soon as I can find some at the proper length.The cheaply made battery pack is attached with a Velcro strap and is reasonably secure. The kit includes a small screw to mechanically attach the battery pack lid to the pack holding the batteries and I strongly recommend you use this as the plastic snap mechanism on the pack is easily broken. (I broke mine almost immediately while trying to open it). I am disappointed that the manufacturer chose to use such a low quality / low value part on an otherwise well made product.I'll be securing the wires to the visor with duct or electrical tape because they're just begging to be snagged on something when working in tight quarters.Bottom line, the product provides a much needed enhancement to the OptiVisor but the battery pack is cheaply made and is now the most likely point of failure on my headgear.

This light kit is a truly excellent addition to your Optivisor. The LEDs provide a white, daylight balanced light, and because there are six of them spread out across the visor, your work is evenly illuminated with few shadows.If you buy a complete Optivisor kit, as I did, with this light kit and the accessory loupe lens, there is a minor difficulty you have to watch out for when you install everything. Do not fully install the light kit with the one-way push pins until you attach the accessory lens. The screw shaft that comes on the lens is not long enough to pass through and accommodate the thickness of the LED bezel. The Quasar light kit comes with a longer screw and you have to disassemble the lens assembly, with its spring and tension nut, in order to install the longer screw. The screw on the lens replaces one of the four plastic push pins and be sure to adjust the spring tension nut first for proper pivoting friction, before you install and tighten the nut on the inside of the visor. If you've got it right, the lens easily pivots in or out of your line of vision and stays in place without being jammed up.I was a little put off by negative comments from other reviewers about this light kit's battery pack being too heavy for and weighing down the visor. I'm glad I ignored them because I did not find it objectionable at all. Even my petite girlfriend, who uses the Optivisor for z scale model work, did not find the weight objectionable at all. I followed the instructions that came with the kit, not bothering to extend the electrical wires, and was quite satisfied. If you have any soldering skills at all, it's quite easy to splice in an extra length of small speaker wire, should you ever desire to move the battery pack to the rear clamp band and not on the pivoting visor frame. Try it as is, I think you will like it.

What I like:Light fixture attaches easily, and does not change the feel or usability of the visor.The added light really, REALLY makes a difference. No more shadows, no squinting - really a large benefit.The color temperature is perfect (in my opinion).What I don't like:The battery pack harness, as others have mentioned, is too short to allow for positioning the pack at the back of the headband where it will have minimal impact. The good news is that it is very easy to stitch in a longer harness.The on/off switch is of poor quality compared to the rest of the unit. After a few dozen on/off cycles I have noticed that the light flickers a bit as the switch loses contact (when it should be on). Lightly tapping the switch or turning off/on always - for now - corrects this issue. When the switch fails I'll just replace it with a better one.Neither of the negatives come close to outweighing the positive effect of the extra light!

The lights are very bright.

This was a gift for a friend who has macular degeneration. She reports that it allows her to shine powerful light on her cooking, her books and her knitting and she is very pleased with the improvement in her vision.

Pretty bright and certainly way better than the Optivisor offering if lots of light is what you want.

A bit fiddly to attach but provides bright light at focal point. It makes fly tying easier for my old eyes.
