GenTent Open Frame Running Cover - Universal Adapter Kit Generator Tent (Slate, Original - Standard)

Easy to install. Great customer service. Quality product. Bought for my Powerhorse 9000 generator. I wasn't sure if I needed to use an extender (to keep it away from the exhaust box). I used their contact form and sent some pictures and they called me quickly and answered my questions. I was unsure if I needed to use one of the extenders to keep the cover away from the exhaust box.. I did need to use an extender, requiring drilling a hole in the box frame of the generator. It was not a problem to do this with my regular drill. The cover fits great. I am going to use the original generator cover when not in use and use this heavy duty cover when I need to use the generator. I store my generator outside, under my deck, and move it to my yard to use. I figure no need to have unneeded wear and tear on this nice cover (it is very thick), so I will put it on when needed. The mounts fold in when not being used so my old cover still fits (even with the extender). To use I just fold the mounts back out, a quick screwdriver to tighten them and put the heavy duty cover on. Only takes a couple minutes, takes longer to plug the unit into my house. Very satisfied.

The GenTent was easy to assemble and fit my Westinghouse WGen10500TFc. QR Code Instructions included with the GenTent took me to video instructions for each step of the installation. We have not had to use the generator since installing so it has not been tested in use during a storm yet but it appears to be sturdy, well designed, and well made so I have not doubt that it will function properly.

I've been thinking about getting a cover for my portable generator for some time, to allow me to run the generator while it is raining. Doing some research online, this company stood out as a great quality. After ordering I promptly received a message from the seller to confirm my generator model to ensure I purchased the correct one. After confirming it was correct, they offered to take a look at photos to verify it was installed properly. Installation was simple, took less than 10 minutes. The instructions were clear, detailed and had pictures to verify it was done correctly. Since I have not had the opportunity to test it yet, I cannot provide feedback on that. However, the material feels very durable and I would not expect water to get through. There is also a detachable flap to cover the outlets and an opening to refuel without having to take the canopy off. I'll update the post after I get some time using it.

The best part is how well it fit on the Champion 8750W open frame inverter. Seems like it will be pretty well protected in my environment. Very easy set up for this unit. Will leave the clamps on and fold in. Rather than mark the optimum height with tape I cut a scrap 2x4 and just move the clamp in to place resting on wood for hight and tighten. Only takes 3 to 4 min to deploy. The folks at Gentent very responsive and seem like good customer service. I did express to them my concerns on the plastic clamps. I was told they had very few warranty claims for broken clamps. I’m guessing in the cold they may crack more easy. Seems like it be easy to make a replacement in a pinch, piece of wood. Half circle conduit clamp to frame and drill a hole for the fiberglass rod. I have no problems with the cover, like heavy raft stuff. All this said, only 4 stars because of concerning light weight plastic hardware at this high price point. Sorry Gentent, if aluminum parts or even beefier composite would give it 8 stars. Or the way it is and a good bit cheaper. That said I would by it again and I am happy with it. If you have the extra cash and don’t want to mess with a DiY version, tarp, or shed then I recommend.

This tent fit our generator perfectly and allows us to use it no matter the weather. Great product, has a side flap you can add on as well to protect the controls.

This was a lifesaver during an ice storm! Great links to the how to videos made it easy to assemble. Heavy duty fabric takes a beating.

So far... It is easy to put on, I have only used it one time with hurricane Milton. I live in the Tampa region when the hurricane came through. I had the generator on my back covered patio 15x30 ft. The wind started whipping through and the power went out at the same time and it's dark. I put the gentent on and it kept the rain off of the vital parts of the generator. The next day the power was still out but the storm had pasted. I moved the generator out of the patio to the natural gas hookup. It was still raining but not hard. It worked fine. I have not had to run it outside of the patio in the middle of a hurricane/storm yet. However, I feel I'm as prepared as I can be with what I have. I did build a temp concrete black wall on one side of my house. So hopefully between the block wall and the tent I will be able to keep the generator running for the next storm. The tent is on the expensive side, however, it does seem to be well built. It worked very well with my Firman Trifuel.

I installed this on a Duromax XP13000HXT Generator. The cover is thick material and seems like it’s high quality. It covers all the essential parts and looks like it’ll hold up very well to the weather when needed. Duromax uses a squared tubular frame which will require you to ‘adapt’ the frame by installing the included mounts to the frame. This involves drilling pilot holes, then using the included screws. I drilled 5/32” holes per the instructions and my first two screws stripped out completely and wouldn’t go in. I went up to a 3/16” bit and didn’t have any other problems. I took my time to carefully go through the motions for installation. I wouldn’t say it was difficult, but I’m glad I set it up ahead of time vs scrambling in a storm. All in all it’s a great addition to my generator to ensure I can have power continuity regardless of the weather conditions outside.

I was looking for an alternate to the yellow Champion cover and found the black GenTent for a lower price. Assembly was straightforward and easy. Noticed many complaints about instructions in the reviews, but there is plenty of information, pictures and videos online for this. I found the included instructions adequate. Pricing may be a bit on the high side, but this is a specialty product, designed to keep your generator dry while respecting airflow, carbon monoxide sensing and ease of refueling without removing the cover. The clamps could possibly be a bit more robust but not enough to knock a star off. If they are installed per the instructions at the right spot and angle, they should last. Just take care not to overtighten the clamp bolts. Overall, I am very pleased with the product and would recommend it.

This is excellent, made of durable materials, 100% waterproof, assembles in minutes. We live on the east coast and get slammed with bad storms, this makes running your generator safe and effective. I have a Generac 7500 and it fit perfectly, no alterations needed to anything, just place the clamps and your ready to go, total install time might have been 15 minutes start to finish. AAA rating for this, wish I had gotten it sooner. The set up also comes with square frame adaptors so will work on square frame generators as well, I have seen complaints about people needing to drill holes for square frames, if so that would be a minor inconvenience if you know what you are doing and would only add a few more minutes to the install provided you own the right tools ie; a drill with bits. At the end of the day this is a perfect running cover and will serve you well.

The original one of these that I received came in damaged condition. 2 of the support rods had punctured the tent cover. It looked like it happened at the factory packaging stage as there was absolutely no damage to the packaging and the boxes were properly sealed. The replacement came extremely quickly and in good condition. The installation was extremely simple and fit properly. I have not had an chance to use this item in bad weather yet but it looks to be a sturdy structure.

It was easy to install and appeared that it would be strong enough. In two weeks we had two major storms. High winds both times gusting to over 100km. The first storm it held up fine, the second storm the next week the winds were even stronger. It did not hold up and it was totally ripped off the generator and is probably somewhere in the Atlantic. We live in Nova Scotia and are on the coast we’re the winds can get strong. I contacted their customer support and spoke to Brian and I explained to him what had happened. He assured me it was covered under their warranty and they were sending a full replacement the next day. Within a week the new one arrived and I was able to install it. Since then we have had a few big snow storms but have not lost power so we have not had the chance to use try out the new GenTent. I must say in this day and age when companies are quick to take your money but not so quick to resolve problems, it is refreshing to have a company stand behind their product.

Ordered and received in a timely fashion. Fits like a glove on my Generac 7,500 portable generator. I had ordered the wrong size of cover but the people at GenTent were quick to let me know and cancelled my 1st order and I re-ordered the correct size. I live in the northwest New Brunswick Canada and we receive a lot of snow and I was looking for a way to run the generator outdoors in a snowstorm. This product solves the problem. I would not hesitate in recommending this product .
