Macrame: Techniques and Projects for the Compete Beginner

Great book all you need

I've had this book less than a week and I'm addicted. The instructions are excellent with pictures for each step. The designs are truly inspirational. 100% recommend.

I thought this book was great. I had never tried macramé before, but I managed to make two different plant hangers very easily using the techniques from this. The diagrams are clear and easy to follow and although it didn't have very many designs I wanted to copy like for like, I was easily able to see what effect each technique had so I could decide on my own design. I normally donate books when I am finished with them, but will be keeping this one for my collection.

I really didn't like the sections where you meet the makers of the various macrame pieces, I thought it was a guide to learn about the craft rather than the people. Not impressed at all, and the instructions were so long winded compared to other macrame books I have bought. The projects didn't look that great either unfortunately.

It may be a beginner's book, but it is more of an overall guide to the subject, rather than a beginner's how-to book which it's what I wanted. Lots on 'Meet the Maker' and arty wall hangings and dyeing rather than practical uses.The Amazon recommendation to buy a starter pack of cord, rings and beads with the book also turned out to be rather useless as none of the projects need the items, instead I need hoops and thicker cord.Overall, I wish I hadn't bothered.

Most definitely not for complete beginners as stated. Has quite a few projects but INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLY 2 KNOTS and these are at the end of the book as if they were an afterthought. I bought this book as it is advertised that it is for complete beginners and as a complete beginner, I was expecting detailed instructions on all types of macrame knots and some patterns containing different knots that I could attempt.I am going to return this as it is of no use to me.
