Berard Glass Storage Jar with Olive Wood Lid, 30-Ounce

I ordered two of the 50 ounce glass jars. They are really beautiful canisters, the grain in the olive wood lid is very pretty. The glass is decent quality and the lids are air tight, although one lid can be removed a little easier than the other. I am giving these jars a 2 star rating because they were advertised as being “handcrafted in France, using traditional methods . . . produced by artisans who are adept at working with wood” (direct quotes from the description), but they are actually made in China. I justified how expensive it was for just one canister ($32) because the description said it was made in France. I try to avoid anything made in China, especially items that hold food, and this is certainly too much money to charge for where it is manufactured.My only other complaint, although minor, is that the top of the lid is stamped “Berard”, which I couldn’t tell from the photo. I would have preferred to just see the natural beauty of the wood without having to look at a company logo.Overall, I love the beauty of the canisters, I just wish they were handcrafted in France, as promised. If they had advertised it as being made in China and significantly lowered the price, I would have given the canisters four stars. If they had actually been made in France, I would have given them five.

I bought this jar even after reading all of the reviews about the lid not fitting very snugly. I thought maybe they were just unlucky so I ordered one myself.First impression is that the jar and lid are gorgeous and feel quality made. That's pretty much where it ends though.The lid is very loose. If you were to pick up the jar only by the lid, the glass jar would fall off, 100%.However, if you just plan to leave this on a shelf somewhere, I think it would be perfect.

So I bought 3 sizes. One arrived broken but no probs as they are sending out a replacement. They are lovely - quite classy and a quality product. I do think they are overpriced and super fragile so be aware of a house of klutzes (like mine).

For this price and this tiny of a jar to be made in CHINA and advertised as made in France is completely unacceptable!

Lovely clear glass with beautiful wood top. It arrived well packed and quickly. Perfect for my dry goods in the kitchen. I've had them for over a year and they still seal perfectly. Easy to see what needs replenishing and makes a great display.

Fast shipping, but the glass is not tempered and is very weak. It broke during delivery even though it was well wrapped. The replacement I bought also broke during delivery

These are beautiful, but as many have commented in reviews, the lids do not stay on/fit tightly, despite the rubber seal. I thought perhaps it was just the one jar, but I tried several others (different sizes) and they had the same problem. I put rocks and crystals in them, so the seal isn't imperative BUT they must not be picked up by the lid. For being so dysfunctional, they are ridiculously overpriced too.

these canisters are beautiful and functional. i highly recommend. i have them in several sizes. They look very expensive and keep your foodstuff fresh. best canisters i have found
