I purposely bought an umbrella with wind flaps that wasn't supposed to be able to be blown inside out. Well today was the first time I had to test that, and this umbrella failed spectacularly. Plus, unlike most umbrellas, rather than just flipping back the right way, the open /close mechanism is completely broken and the umbrella is now useless. Really really disappointed.

I purchased this umbrella 2 1/2 years ago for air travel trips because of its small size. I've actually had cause to open it fewer than 10 times since then. I recently took it out from where I store it between trips, and saw that the handle was coming off. When I disassembled the handle, several broken plastic parts fell out (see the accompanying photos).The broken pieces were all parts of a plastic collar that kept the metal shaft of the umbrella pushed up against the spring that deploys the umbrella when the button on the handle is depressed. This plastic collar is under a lot of pressure from that spring. Apparently it was under-engineered, causing it to crack and fail after minimal use (in fact, it probably failed just as a matter of time, as the pressure of the spring is at its maximum when the umbrella is collapsed; I had last used the umbrella about 3 months previously, and it had been in storage since then).Due to the fragility of such a critical part in the umbrella's mechanism, I cannot recommend that anyone purchase one of these.

This is a product of poor quality . I bought 2 umbrellas for my daughters before the rainy season started. I chose this kind because they seemed light weight and they were supposed to have and automatic opening and closing mechanisms . My daughters got a chance to use the umbrellas only ONCE before one of them started to fall apart (lost the top button and ruffle piece), and with the other one the closing mechanism failed. So I'm stuck with an umbrella that can't be put away. On top of that, the vendor's return policy prevents me from returning it, since I purchased these items on October 31st. So much for being prepared...

Pro: attractive design, handy push-button open AND closeCon: poor build quality, broke easily from internal pressures while storedI live in an area where it doesn't rain often, but when it does, I find myself buying a last minute cheap umbrella. This time, I thought I'd get something a little nicer. Unfortunately, I'm still going to have to get a last minute umbrella because when it finally did rain again, I found out this umbrella had broken while sitting in my car doing nothing. Specifically, the base is designed such that it easily broke just from the internal spring forces present when the umbrella is retracted. Take a look at the point of failure in the pictures. The hole thing was held together by a thin piece of plastic. Very disappointing. You had ONE job.

I bought this umbrella less than a year ago. It is phenomenal and so easy to use. Living in NYC it is crucial to invest in a reliable and dependable umbrella since one walks everywhere here for long periods of time. I raved about the umbrella to everyone, and I can testify that even A YEAR LATER all of the positive reviews are spot on. Well, in my case, my umbrella broke through no fault of my own. I went to close it by pressing the button as usual, and something popped and the button sunk in leaving me with an open umbrella and no way to close it. I contacted the company, and I sent them the pictures you see here per their request. Well, guess what? They mailed me a new umbrella right away. Now that ladies and gentleman is satisfaction guaranteed and true customer service. If you’re thinking of buying this umbrella, do it. No, I was not given anything for this review. I am truly happy with their service and I highly recommend it.

Great, sturdy umbrella. Its heavier than a typical compact umbrella, but also has a wider span (2 people can fit, though you will need to like each other as its cozy), and the venting so that it doesn't blow inside out is a huge plus and works great. Automatic open and close is smooth, effective, and is a nice feature. Another plus is that the sleeve it comes in is spacious enough that you can actually reinsert the umbrella and thus continue to use the sleeve after opening the umbrella for the first time--most umbrellas only fit into their sleeves when all compacted down at the factory and no longer fit once they have been used. Its nice to have the sleeve when the umbrella is wet. Easily the best umbrella I have purchased in recent memory. Well built so it looks like it will last too.

Nice quality product, was small but not the most compact I've seen that I could find shopping normally. It was nice that it wasn't too much of a struggle to get it back into the sleeve. Love the black/grey color combo.Sadly, I only got to use this one day before someone in Italy stole it from the bin at the front door (customary for patrons to leave there dripping umbrella at the establishment in the bin at the door so that you don't drip water everywhere). Someone else is now enjoying it for free. If travelling, especially if you'll be at a place for a long stay, I'd recommend you keep this in your possession.

Like others have said, I too love this umbrella. The quality and ease to open are wonderful. I ordered 2 so my husband wouldn't take mine. We threw away all our other ones because they were so frustrating to handle. Love the size and the light weight. Being in California and finally getting some rain, we got these just in time. Every morning I walk our dog, rain or shine, and between juggling with the dog leash and trying to get my gloves on, I at least know that I won't have any problem keeping my hair dry with a click of a button to open this good size umbrella.
