本製品は2014年に登場した新金型キットのデカール替えバリエーションです。1/48スケールのMk.Ⅴとしては最新の部類に属するキットなので出来は良く、従来のキットでは見逃されていたディテールも正確に再現されていますが、それでもディテールの一部に見落としや間違いがあるのは惜しいです。ミスや省略箇所の修正は難しくないので、拘るなら手を加えると良いでしょう。マーキングは有名なエースのドン・ジェンタイル少尉機を含む、アメリカ人パイロットの乗機二種が付属します。ジェンタイルの撃墜スコアは19機ですが、スピットファイアで撃墜したのは2機だけで、他はP-47サンダーボルトで3機、残りはP-51マスタングで撃墜しています。デカールはカルトグラフ製の上質な物が付属します。1/48スケールのスピットファイアMk.Ⅴは、より新しく出来の良いエデュアルド製が存在しますが、本製品もレベルの高いキットには違いなく、フィギュアの付属や飛行状態で作れる等のアドバンテージがあるので、製作に値するキットには違いないでしょう。

A very nice kit!
This the latest boxing of the new Spitfire Vb from Airfix that compares nicely to the Eduard kit. It's accurate in shape and can be improved further using multiple detail sets available for it
