Great and useful product with FANTASTIC customer service!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: ***PLEASE READ THE UPDATES!!!***COULD have been great... if my German Shepherd I rescued a month ago did not destroy it in less than 1 minute!I fastened this SnapLeash (the 1 inch width type on this page) using one of the grommets with the dog clip (as it's use is indicated for) around a pole in my basement to keep my dog a safe distance from some projects I was working on but also so that I could keep her in sight. My dog is a 60 pound, 3 year 9 month old female German Shepherd I rescued about a month ago. She literally, got loose in less than 1 minute by destroying it in only a couple chews. Now mind you, her two bottom canine's are broken and she is a chewer, however she's not a ridiculously aggressive chewer (I understand this is not marketed as chew-proof, but destroyed in less than 1 minute!? COME ON! I have other nylon leashes that have lasted longer than a minute with her!). The section chewed apart was all nylon across the width that got completely severed at a fairly smooth angle. It was not where a grommet was where she would only have to chew a little. Great idea, just not durable or long-lasting, at all. I would not recommend this to anyone with a dog that is even the slightest chewer.***UPDATE*** September 25, 2013 4:50pm ESTI contacted the manufacturer SnapLeash via a comment post through their facebook page regarding the durability issues I had with the leash I purchased. I received a response in less than 24 hours! According to them, my issue is the first they've heard of out of the many they have sold. They have offered to replace the leash at no cost, and if further issues result, to refund my money. They are even sending a return label for me to send back the severed leash so they can study it!... Sounds like great customer service so far despite product quality so I'm upgrading my review from 1 star to 3 stars in the meantime as I really do appreciate fast resolution with a company's customer service. I will update again once the replacement is received and tried again.***UPDATE*** October 26, 2013 3:05pm ESTAs promised, I am updating again, and changing my review to 5 stars. I have since received the replacement leash and SnapLeash was kind enough to send me 2 others (large blue and small red) for a dog I plan to adopt in the near future as well as an envelope with prepaid postage to return the severed leash. And so far, the new black leash has withstood the numerous times that I have used it with her! I really love the whole double ended hook concept with the multiple grommet holes. I've used it on a trolley run I have in my backyard that didn't come with a double ended dog hook lead to use on it (the main reason why I got this). It's also come in handy when I've gone outside with her to water some grass I've been trying to grow--I just can easily clip her around the tree in the front yard, keep an eye on her, and keep her away from the stream of water shooting out of the hose! It's great for bringing her outside to use an outdoor kennel for potty time because sometimes we forget to clean up after her last trip outside so it's great for fastening her outside the kennel chain link so we can clean up and let her in (long story why she goes potty in a kennel, I'll sum it up with she was an abused rescue who will only go potty if fully enclosed in metal whether it's a crate or kennel). I will say though, the prepaid envelope to return the severed leash did get returned to me for insufficient postage--but as experienced before, the SnapLeash customer service has been great in resolving the issue!

The idea is great. Execution not so much
The idea is great. Execution not so much. Love the ability to use this in any configuration needed; however, the grommets have been popping out, starting shortly after getting it. I do have a large dog, so maybe the tension he creates adds pressure.

Good for training
We use a leash like this to train guide dogs (theirs is leather), but it's a great concept for when you want to train your dog. On end easily hooks to the collar and the other can hook into any rivet to make the leash longer or shorter. Because it uses rivets instead of external loops, the leash doesn't lay flat, so if you put it in the rivet closest to the collar, it's like a giant handle. But it's good quality material, and easy to use. Great leash!

good design, poor material
I won't waste time and tell you about the wonderful features this leash has. It's a good design and does what it claims. However, I expect a leash to be sturdy and of strong materials for the safety of my 90 lb. Rottweiler, who admittedly can be a moderate to aggressive tugger when he gets excited. I took this leash for a trial run. And after one use, I found it's flaw. The nylon material is wide enough and thick enough, The hooks (probably too large for a small dog under 20 lbs.) are strong and secure, the stitching appears to be secure. But for something like this, 3/4 is bad. The grommets, which is what makes this leash unique, is made of what appears to be aluminum. It is a pliable aluminum. When my dog tugged on the leash, the grommet that one hook was attached to got all bend because it is too thin. I fixed it the best I could with a pair of pliers with not much strength needed. Would I buy this again? Probably not. What price would I put on this item? Maybe $10, at most. How long do I anticipate it lasting? My guess would be one year. What size dog would I recommend this for? 40- 75 Lb.11/15/14: Shortly after writing this review, I received an email from the company who expressed their apology and concern about the "defect" in the product. They even sent me another one to try out. I do respect that the maker of this product is willing to stand by their product and want customer satisfaction. BTW- I have continued to use the first leash without further problems.1/31/15: After 3 months of use, I can definitely say that I do not like this product. I noticed today while getting my dogs ready for their walk that a grommet came loose from the leash. The grommet did not seem to have any sign of stress that may have caused it to come loose. The two parts (front/back) just separated. I have come to the conclusion that these grommets are for aesthetics only, which is whythey are cheaply made. The last leash I had, with a similar concept, lasted 20 yrs before needing to be replaced.

Our perfect solution
This leash is exactly what we've been searching for to tether our "escape artist" Jack Russell terrier while out for his walks. We are people who lost our minds when we got TWO energetic Jack Russell's, and our second rescue proved to be a Houdini at getting out of harnesses or taking off if we dropped the leash. We are using this leash as a "waist" tether and it works great on my husband's larger frame to go around his waist (through his back belt loop) and clip into the last grommet. The other clip is used on the dog's regular leash. Since my husband insists on walking both dogs on separate leashes, this keeps the escaper dog on the Snap Leash around his waist. Our dog still get his regular lead on his regular leash, but if my husband were to drop the regular leash, it is clipped to the Snap Leash and the dog is still with us. It's proving secure and sturdy. When I get a chance to use it, there are plenty of grommets to tighten it up for my waist. I've been reluctant to walk both dogs at the same time, but now I think I'll be able to with the extra security the Snap Leash provides. We are very happy with this solution. Thank you! (The secure harness is a WHOLE other story;)
