Only thing about these mixers is there's no metering. could be great sounding, but what happens when the levels are too low in post production?

This is not a recording mixer, it is more for live non-recording performances. There are no individual outputs and the USB connector is only for powering the device. If you're going live and need some extra channels it is very useful

Yes, but are more cheaper solutions.

Do i need to plug this into a mixer to get the audio into a daw?

This is not an audio interface, so you would need to plug the output from this into your audio interface in order to record the output into a DAW. Behringer has some affordable 2 channel interfaces if you do not already have one.

How to i get this to my laptop do i need a mixer to get it on my laptop?

It's output is only a 1/4 jack for left and a 1/4 jack for right. You will need adapters. probably a 1/4 male y to a 1/8 male stereo.
