I don't have a lot of experience with clear vanilla and have only used real vanilla, so in comparison to the real thing, this just doesn't rank. It tastes to us more like marshmallows. It did give the frosting a reasonable flavor and it did let me get a pure white, but it just isn't what I would call a good real vanilla flavor. Because clear vanilla is imitation vanilla, I'm not sure I expected it to be like real vanilla, but I guess I expected it to be closer.
