Not defective, you just built it wrong!!
These shelves are really cute. They were exactly what I was looking for to display my Christmas decor in my living room and kitchen. Now for the fun part. There has been a lot of ppl that reviewed these shelves as defective because one of the shelves faces the wrong way, but if you notice in all the pictures in those reviews; the only “defective” shelf is always the middle shelf. What a coincidence right? Not. It’s because they accidentally flipped the middle tier’s legs when putting it together and so that made the middle shelf lean the wrong way. I know this because it happened to me. After putting it together I realized the middle shelf was leaning the wrong way. It’s an easy mistake to make seeing as how the shelf is built in 3 section. The top tier has 2 shelves, the middle tier has 1 and the last tier has 2 shelves and the legs are hatched with a track where the shelf sits. So after I put it together and the middle shelf looked wrong, my immediate reaction was oh I used the middle legs that hold that shelf wrong. I’ll just take that middle tier apart and flip the legs to get the correct lean on the shelf and that’s exactly what happened. Once I flipped the legs and put it back together, it looked great. The thought of the product being defective never crossed my mind. So please if you run into the same problem as many people here have, don’t get mad or upset, just take that middle tier apart and flip the legs. Despite that little hiccup, these really were easy to assemble. Hope this helps!!!

Not the sturdiest, but you can't beat the price.
I was a bit hesitant to buy at first because of the bad reviews, but I was having huge issues finding a pure black ladder shelf that fit my budget, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad I did! I bought two to place on either side of the TV for all of my knick knacks and plants. Both packages for either shelf arrived perfectly in-tact with no pieces broken or missing. I read these were pretty hard to assemble, but I had no issues. If you just make sure to read and double check the instructions, you won't have a problem. I also laid out all the pieces the way they were supposed to be attached before I got started screwing in pieces. After assembly, they are not the sturdiest things in the world. When I moved them from my place of assembly to the TV area, I accidentally hit the ceiling and it slightly chipped the top corner of the shelf. It was my bad, but that just goes to show how delicate these things are. I would not recommend putting these in a high traffic area, because one accidental bump and they could get seriously damaged. Luckily, we don't walk up to the TV that often so I don't think there will be an issue. Overall I am really happy with the purchase, and really like how they look in the living room. If you are on a budget and want a nice ladder shelf to display your things in a tucked away area, I recommend these shelves!

you get what you pay for
It’s good for the price. Assembly was pretty much common sense but is time consuming because there are lots of screws. It’s a little wobbly after being constructed but I don’t think it’ll topple over if you don’t put anything too heavy on it. Overall I think it’s a nice bookshelf, but for the price it is it’s not going to be amazing quality. It does the job I was wanting it to do so can’t complain!

Cheap, flimsy, worthless, junk, garbage, rip off
This is one of the cheapest items I have ever ordered from Amazon. It is absolutely waste of money and time these people should not be allowed to sell stuff like this on Amazon. This thing is not even worth seven dollars. It’s cheap. I wasted two hours of my time trying to put this piece of junk together. It falls apart when you even touch it. It has scratches on it. It’s the cheapest material ever used in any item ever.

I am so beyond impressed
I promise this review is worth reading. I’ve had this shelf for a year or so, and if you’re wondering why I’m rating it 5 stars even though it’s totally bent - that’s what makes it impressive. We didn’t put any pads on the bottom of the legs and didn’t do anything to keep it attached to the wall. It’s just balancing on the wall. We have one of these on both sides of out TV, and the one in the picture we obviously had to skip out of the bottom shelves so we could fit our things under the shelves. We have three cats and a dog, and to run from the back of the house to the front, you have to do like a side step if you’re coming into the living room from the hallway or else you’ll just run into the shelf and wall. Well, when the dog and cats have the zoomies, they have to drift that corner - and they don’t drift very well every time. This bent leg on this shelf, that’s SOLELY being supported by sheer balance, has been smacked full speed by a dog or a cat darting straight into it. We always bend it back into place, but I couldn’t NOT leave a review on this. I can’t believe this thing hasn’t slipped or moved at all considering it’s just balanced and getting cats and dogs constantly darting into it. It baffles my boyfriend and I every single time we see one of them hit it and nothing moves but the leg. Like I said, it’s been a year (i think longer) and it’s still holding strong. This is the most impressive thing I’ve seen.

Decent but you get what you pay for
I chose the least expensive options, so I should have known that this would look/feel cheap. It works and serves the purpose, but a few things to note ... It was easy to put together, but it's not totally even. Shelves should be flush against the wall, but it's a little off, so one side doesn't quite touch the wall. Also, bottom of shelves are very thin and cheap seeming. You can also see that on one side, the pieces don't quite fit together perfectly (probably why the whole thing is a bit off). On the second side, they fit much more snug. All that said, it looks cute and works for what it is. Next time I would probably spring for the additional $20 or so and get a slightly sturdier version of this.

So cute!
It is flimsy, but I love it enough to buy a second one! It is a puzzle to put together, but I did it. I wouldn't put anything heavy on it, but it is perfect for my rubber duck collection. It is really cute!

Love my new shelf! Simple to build and very cute! It is not very sturdy so if you plan to buy it to actually store a lot of items on it then it's definitely not the good item for you! Perfect if you just want to add few items on it like plants or books. I was looking for this kind of shelf to simply add something on my wall wich is huge an empty and this made the perfect touch for my living room!

Love the way it looks. Make sure to put little protective pads on the two tops to protect your wall. Only downside was that the small screws are literally 1mm too small. Some were hard to get in and it seemed that it was just not put together well (attaching sides of the shelves to the back part), but knowing the bottom screwed in well we knew it would be okay. I think it is a little pricey, but no regrets buying it.

Read the reviews. I thought the third shelf was faulty as it tilted the wrong was but someone put very good notes in their review of what the problem was. The middle piece can be tricky to make sure you have the shelf slants the right way. This is very light shelving unit. I would not suggest this in a busy house with lots of kids. It is not sturdy for that type of household. For me it’s perfect.

Easy to put together. Nice looking. Once you get it set up on your wall, with items on it, looking great, then it slidsfrom the bottom, crashing down....so please make sure to put something on the bottom (feet) to make sure it stays in place.

It’s pretty affordable, so it’s great for the price! It wasn’t easy nor difficult to assemble and it’s stable enough to stand up right and look nice, but when you wipe it down you have to be very careful cause it’s very lightweight and it’ll slide at any touch.
