The ChefMaster stoves are made in Vietnam and are of exceptional quality. The ChefMaster butane gas comes from South Korea. **Q: Does this stove and the 12,000 btu one use propane or only butane?** A: This model, 90019, is butane only. But I found another model, 90057, that is propane or butane. I don't have any experience using it yet. **Q: Are these totally safe for indoor use?** A: Im not a gas expert so take this as a normal person. The safety concern isn’t so much the stove itself but what fuel you use. Propane is an absolute no no indoors. However, from what I’ve seen and personal experience butane stoves are fine. First off the box, gas canister cover came loose and a screw dropped off. Unable to tighten the screw as the aluminum frame is out of alignment. Plastic chips and bits are in the box and the stove.
