Fine quality for the money
The original struts in my car were looking worn out and deteriorated. I thought the new ones would help the action of opening and closing the liftgate - and it would relieve the strain and pressure on the handle of the liftgate. After replacing the struts I did not notice much change in the action of opening and closing the liftgate. However, overall I am satisfied with the new struts and I am glad I replaced them. Changing the struts was easy and straight forward.

Installation easier than expected; they work fine except slightly more noise than the original supports
On my 2007 Prius, the only tool needed for installation is a small, flat-head screwdriver ... that's if you don't count a second set of hands able to keep the hatch held up all of the way while popping off the old supports and popping the new ones on. The installation steps are three: (1) Pry off the four retaining clips (aka "stop rings", one on each end of the two supports) per the attached diagram. (2) Pull the end of each old support away from the car body/hatch until it pops off its attachment "knob". (3) Push the end of each support onto the attachment "knob" until it pops into place. All told, I'd say it took me around ten minutes.Though there were instructions printed on the packaging, they were hard to read and to figure out which variant would apply to the Prius. Since they shipped with an inventory label attached saying these supports were for the 2004-2009 Prius, maybe they could also affix some model-specific documentation. The supports look OK ... not out of place when compared with the originals. They sounded a little louder than the originals being replaced, but I pay attention to details like that and many people won't notice or care. Not knowing how the noise is produced, however, I'm hesitant to assume it won't adversely affect the lifetime of the supports. I didn't notice the supports providing more force than the original (as some have reported) nor less. That is to say, so far they're functioning fine.

Solid product works like a charm installed in 10 minutes with nothing but a screwdriver and a 7 year old to hold the trunk opened

Dangerous! Broke within a month
Picture this… you’re carrying a toddler in one arm and opening your hatchback with another. As the hatch hits it’s highest point, one of these “tuff” arms snaps clean off near the joint, and the hatch proceeds to immediately slam shut inches from your toddler’s face. This is what happened to my son and I this morning, and it could have ended with an ER trip. Will be filing an NHTSA complaint. This product was less than a month old, and I had high hopes…

Purchased a year ago and still works well
Purchased this a year ago. Good replacement part. OEM part was easy to remove and new part was easy to install. If the hatch has not been opened for a while it can open quickly without slowing as it reaches the fully open position. This results in the hatch bouncing when the supports are fully extended which could damage them. I learned to slow the hatch with my hand as it approaches the fully open position until the supports are fully extended. If I open the hatch again within a short time there is no issue and it opens quickly but slows at approaches the fully open position. I'm sure it has something to do with the oil and valve function within the supports. Once lubed after an initial opening they function normally until it sits for a while again.

Easy install. Forceful struts
Easy install. But I dinged one star because (as others have stated) the hatchback flies up with force. We’ve had them on the car for a coupleMonths. Although it’s better I still get nervous at how forcefully the lift back flies up.
