Smellkiller XL Air Cleanser with Blue Glass Bowl

After years of searching for a practical remedy for my kitchen odors, this seems to do the job to some extent.I have an open kitchen, and the exhaust-filter above the range does a very poor job. Odors from other apartments in my hallway demonstrate I am not the only one to have this problem of modern buildings.I was looking for a remedy without the hassle and space requirements of an air purifier.This seems to do the job, It is not perfect though, for it may take up to one one day for the odors to disappear. I should point out I placed the bowl on the counter top next to the range, and I am not cooking in any major ways: usually grilling salmon or a steak would cause offending odors.Without this device, the worst odors (esp. salmon) would take even more than two days to disappear even opening windows, burning incense sticks, etc.Be careful with the water level in the bowl, as I think others have remarked, it works only if the metal disc is exposed to the air. And my anecdotal experience seems point out that the more of its surface is exposed the better.I am puzzled by the dishwasher safe feature: the box says that both the disc and the bowl are dishwasher safe.However, the bowl came with a sticker that said "Hand-painted glass not sustainable for use in oven, microwave or dishwasher. Treat with care. MADE IN TURKEY'

Don't waste your money on any of these "Smell Killers!" I have had one for 3 weeks now and it hasn't helped ANY smell one bit! I have a range of odors in my house - dog, cat, rabbit, cooking, etc. - and it has not eliminated anything! It is really just a piece of stainless steel sitting in a glass dish with some water in it, not covering it. If you want it for a paperweight, buy it. If you'd like to get rid of odors, buy a spray or something. Don't buy this! I wish I hadn't!

I was desperate for something to control the odors from a litter box used by three adult cats. I'm normally a skeptic but I figured I could return this if it didn't work. I tested the Smellkiller when the box was in need of a change, just to see if it lived up to its hype. I washed the disc in a little soapy water to remove packing dust as instructed, placed it in the dish with tap water almost all the way up to the top, and placed the dish directly on top of the litter box. After three or four hours, the smell was unnoticable in the apartment and hardly perceptible even when we stood right next to the box. As a bonus, a nearby windowless bathroom was completely free from mildew odor for the first time since I moved in. Amazing.

Like, the other reviewers, I was skeptical. I put it on a low shelf, as close to the litter box as I could get it. I did not notice a difference after several hours, but by the next morning, the smells had been killed!I noticed that the water seemed to be evaporating very quickly, but soon discovered that kitty thought it was it own personal drinking bowl.I had to move it so that he can't get to it.Great product, I'll be buying more.

Since this seemed to work so well near litter boxes, I tried this near my diaper pail and noticed absolutely ZERO difference. I change the diaper pail daily too. It may be good for litter boxes (I don't have a cat), but it's no good for diaper pails. Just FYI for all the parents out there.

I was skeptical about the performance but it really works very well. I use a stainless steel egg with soap to rid my hands from smells like fish, garlic or bleach which also does a fabulous job, so I thought I give it a try. I can only recommend it and will purchase one more.

It really works. Still trying to figure out HOW. So simple. The nasty smell from cat litter disapeared after only a few days. The basement has no outlet to fresh air, so it stank a LOT before. I will wait for sale to get more of these little wonders.

I put the Smellkiller in my very small kitchen and it didn't work even in that tiny room. The idea seems like a good one, it just needs to be worked out better.
