Another great book from Alice Melvin
Another great book from Alice Melvin. We recently returned from a trip to England with my 5 year old granddaughter, I hope this book helps her to remember our trip in the years to come as we visited several High Streets in the English countryside. Again, each page holds children's interest as they manipulate the features included by Ms. Melvin. This book is sure to please children and adults.

Fun Read
My 3-year-old daughter loves this book and enjoys pointing out the different items inside the store. Throughout the book, each of the fancy storefronts opens up as Sally enters each one in search of an item on her list. The only thing I would change about this book is the paper quality. A thicker type of paper that is coated would be better suited and much more durable to all the lifting of the flaps a child would do while reading this book. I got this book in October and is already showing signs of wear after 2 months. Regardless, a very enjoyable book for bedtime reading.

Darling counting book
My daughter & I checked this book out from the library initially and when it quickly became a part of our nightly story ritual, I knew we needed to add it to our library. The story follows Sally on her shopping trip down High Street. The artwork is darling with each page opening up to reveal the store interior. The book introduces kids to their numbers by having each store address increase from 1 to 10. Overall, it's a darling book that would make a great addition to any child's book collection.

Cute book about British high street and culture
My son was born in the UK and is British. When we moved to the US, I wanted to find a book that would be a lovely reminder of home for him and this is certainly one of them! Looking forward to reading it to my son.

Beautiful illustrations with a sweet final message
We love Alice Melvin! the rhyme is sweet and engaging and the illustrations are just beautiful, with lots of detail that my 2 year old likes to point out. Each shop on the high street is numbered, so we've been practising number recognition too.I love that it ends with a sweet note about enjoying things in the world around us, without taking them home.

wonderful book
We recieved this book as a christmas present for our 4 year old. A great book for reading aloud before bedtime. Sally's shopping trip through the High Street has very interesting pictures and concepts beyond what is written in the text. A great book for creative thinking, memory (Sally has a list), and logic (what shops have what items on the list).

Excellent book to enjoy with a child
This is one of the cutest picture books I’ve seen. It holds the readers interest as well as the child’s. The illustrations are amazing.

Fun and beautiful
My children were delighted with this book and its peek-a-boo cutaways of the shops. The rhymes and pictures are great fun!

Lovely book with lots of repetition
A cute, rhyming story of a girl that goes shopping and manages to get everything on her list except the last item - a yellow rose. What is first a disappointment is followed by a lovely twist, as she walks back home through the public garden and sees a huge bush of roses, so she ends the day with "no yellow rose, but memories of loads".My 2-year-old loves it as she can easily speak along (what am I saying - tell it all by herself (nearly) - and she loves to add little parts here and there, greeting the shop owners and wishing them a lovely day after the purchase. Somehow it seems to really spark her role play imagination. It's sweet, the drawings are clear and traightforward and a nice break from the usual typical children's books illustrations. We only take it out occasionally as to not tire (me) of the repetitions.
