A NEW FREEDOM - UPDATE 1/23/22
I have a history of ear damage going back to 1955 and a family history of serious hearing problems. Since about 1985 I have been purchasing hearing aids of various types, but my hearing changes with age, the weather and often several times per day. I've worn $3,000.00 hearing aids that were useless after a year and $50.00 amplifiers but what I really needed was something that would change with me and for a while I thought I had found that in a pair of aids that could be reprogrammed, but they required a hardware interface that rapidly wore out and payment of fees after a limited number of changes and dropped back to aids I could change by fiddling with trimmers - not something you want to do at the beach. Then four months ago I discovered The Zyon EarSpoke R100 and it was as if it had been designed for me!It has taken four months to be completely comfortable with these, but it has been well worth the effort. I would not have made it this far were it not for the excellent customer support provided by Zylon, particularly support from Charles. I am not an easy customer and Charles has shown considerable patience throughout. During these four months I have returned one aid twice and encountered a defective battery. Both aid returns were due to a jammed program button that on reflection I may have caused as I will explain below. The faulty battery at first seemed to be a problem with the device as the device stopped but by logging which batteries were used with which device I narrowed it down to one faulty battery. The device was repaired and returned promptly and a new battery was supplied.PRO:1. Complete control of the devices via a Bluetooth phone application. The application is easy to navigate and multiple setups can be stored. Each ear is individually programmed.2. Multiple presets for various environments such as restaurants or traffic.3. Rechargeable batteries and excellent recharge time and time between charges.CON:The rechargeable batteries may be a week spot as they plug into the actual device and I have noticed dampness on them when removing them for charging and this dampness must be entering through the seam between the device and the battery. See 'TIPS'.TIPS:1. Spend some time learning the application by creating a number of profiles. There is a lot there and it cannot all be absorbed in one setup.2. Dampness on batteries. Buy ear socks and/or buy a drier - the plug in kind. I have a drier purchased previously (Zephyr) for other aids and my devices and batteries go into the drier every night.2. Buy the extra batteries. This allows you to dry a set and have a charged set available immediately the next morning when you take everything out of the drier.3. Be careful using the button to activate, shut down or change program on the device. The button is very small and for activation or shut down flashes an LED light. If you have large fingers you may be tempted to use a fingernail on the button - Don't! My wife who is not hearing impaired taught me how to press the buttons. Hold the device with long side parallel to your body in one hand and with the thumb or finger of the other hand just on the edge of the button press it.4. You don't need the cover on the battery charger.5. Enjoy a new freedom!UPDATE 2/23/22I like to keep everything in top shape (obsessive compulsive :)) and decided I wanted replacement CLOSED domes for worn out or lost domes. I contacted Zylon, but they do not offer replacements and after some back and forth with Charles at customer support purchased: 9mm Small Closed Dome EarCaps for Hearing Assist Recharge! ITE (in The Ear) Hearing Aids ONLY (10 Pack) available from Amazon. They are a good replacement and in my experience seem better than those supplied with the Zylon product. Still happy with my purchase eight months later!Update 5-23-22 One week Away From Warranty ExpirationWas having problems reconnecting one earpiece with my android phone and was about to test the warranty. As a last resort, similar to a hung computer, I shut down the phone and restarted it. The application immediately found both aids and reset them. Planning to get an audiogram free through insurance and input that to the app. Still happy.

Poor sound quality
I really wanted to like this, as it has many features that appeal to me: adjustable frequency response, rechargeable, replaceable battery. However, sound tube technology vs. RIC (Receiver in Canal) will always produce a sound akin to hearing in a tunnel - it is extremely unnatural, "echoey", and actually makes understandability worse than with no aid at all. With a 4kHz upper frequency limit, it is not much better than telephone fidelity. The left unit periodically (yes, periodically, not intermittently) buzzed, likely due to a manufacturing defect. Bluetooth connectivity via my iPhone could only be managed via the app, not via the iPhone's settings. In the documentation provided, there was ZERO reference for the manufacturer's web site or telephone, basically no way for contact to work around issues. Finally, the package I received had all the seals broken, indicating that it was a previously returned item that had not been restored to 'new-like' condition. Interestingly, the ear pieces that were connected as I received them were fitted for "right ear on left ear device" and "left ear on right ear device" -- the previous user had put the sound tubes on incorrectly, so it's no wonder they returned the product! I expected better for $600.In June 2019, i bought a pair of Zyon rechargeable devices which worked very well, and that I liked very much. These were the RIC type, and sound quality was good. I need high frequency boost, which those provided without blocking low frequencies. Eventually, the very thin wires leading from the device to the receiver (in-ear speaker) break from flexing, and repair is almost impossible. This is probably why that model (which I would happily buy again) is no longer available. I had great hope that the present device could at least match the sound quality from the earlier design, but it is not even close.High regards to Amazon for facilitating product return!

Day One, Fabulous!
First time I've worn digital hearing aids. First time I've worn hearing aids in 25 years. All items were in the box, nothing missing. Charged quickly. Downloaded the app to a Samsung S20 and set them up without issue. The hearing test is great, very easy. I also input my last audiogram and fit the aids to that, the sound is amazing.Tried a couple of different domes, have settled on the semi-open ones at the moment.Obviously, it's somewhat disorienting as I'm hearing frequencies again that I haven't heard in a very long time. I have questions about buying spare rechargeable battery units and extra domes. There are no obvious answers on the manufacturer's website, I'll email their support.I'll endeavour to update this review next week and regularly for a while as I use them. Day one and I'm very happy so far.

They seem to work well. Can't judge long term yet.
Everything works as advertised. My hearing loss is not severe so the 4 levels of sensitivity and frequency adjustment gives me everything I need. Phone app also allowed me to do a test better than I got at the audiologist. Cost was thousands lower than I got elsewhere. I know electronics and there is no reason to pay those high prices for a couple of simple audio amplifiers.

Really improve my hearing but a bit time-consuming to get set up
Really improve my hearing but a bit time-consuming to get set up.These amplify sound very much more than hearing amplifiers that I’ve bought in the past. The ability to test and customize the frequencies they amplify for my particular hearing loss is quite valuable.

Couldn't be controlled with the phone
They are rechargeable and have a nice charging case. I got them and had them almost adjusted to the point that I thought they were going to work for me, but then they lost connection to my phone. I worked with customer service several times and got connection on one side but were never able to connect with the other one and had to send them back.

A good idea but not reliable
I liked the idea of the test and settings of the units but one of the units died after 2 months.
