Unobtrusive technology that gives peace of mind for parents.
The Gryphon Guardian is amazing! If you're a parent especially, the Gryphon app gives you all the info on what your kids are up to online, and provides them with safety and clear boundaries, and for parents, peace of mind, though you still have to keep an eye on them. The screen/bedtime/suspend timetable works a treat once you've got your head around how to set it up, and how to change it..read the simple instructions several times, I made the mistake of thinking I could do it without but it's worth taking the time to get it right the first time round. I've also had quite a lot of difficulties with teenagers viewing inappropriate stuff - the Gryphon Support team have been so helpful to explain how to make it as safe as possible, no system can be 100% but the Gryphon goes along way toward it. When they bring in developed tech for preventing VPNs being used it would be better still. The time delay for getting support is at most a few hours, they're very good responding generally by email, and from the app you have direct access, which has been really helpful when I had questions, and I've had many! There's been no blips in coverage and only 2 essential updates needed when 2 security alerts flagged up because of open ports caused by teenagers trying to dodge parental controls! So, I'm very happy with Gryphon, would definately recommend it. Thanks Gryphon

Rubbish
Although the router and repeaters have an easy installation, the app makes all the features other than the very basic WiFi connection unusable. The app crashes going onto tabs and this is random, it could be on the devices tab or it might change to the users tab meaning you cannot access specific paid for features. Would not recommend. Gryphon please fix this, or allow for an web browser admin page so that settings can be changed via that instead of the app

Worth the money - does what it says
Great product. I own a childrens home and have used various products to manage access to the homes network and this works perfectly. I’m able to assign devices to users and restrict access based on time age or block specific sites. All controllable from my phone. I have this connected to Starlink internet then to a switch which then has unifi access points and it all work great.

User friendly parental controls
I needed a way to restrict when my children could access the Internet, it also needed to be easy to use. I could log into the IP of my BB providers router but it's clunky, time consuming and my partner struggled to do it. This router seems very good at parental controls, if you want to improve WiFi coverage or fix black spots this may not be the correct router for you. Connect it via ethernet to your BB providers router and turn off the WiFi on that router so everyone connects through the guardian. If, like me, you have a Sky router you cannot turn off it's WiFi as your TV box will only talk to that router. In this case change the password on the sky router (instructions online). So, personally, only my children are using the guardian router. The app makes changing WiFi name and password easy. Identifying devices is also easy and I allocate them to the appropriate user where I can then set restrictions based on the individual. It has some seemingly great features that aren't quite right for me. I could set screentime limits which I could use as an incentive for behaviour charts but with the age of my children that's not appropriate. I really just want them to go to sleep at a reasonable time. I can set age filters, block specific url's and even log browsing history. Again, not appropriate in my case, my children are old enough and I have no specific safety concerns, that I'm choosing not to use these at this time. Follow the setup instructions precisely, when to turn on each router seems very important.

Poor WiFi, good parental controls
Purchased this as Sky's parental controls which you get via 'Broadband Buddy' no longer seem to work, nor do Sky seem to want to fix it. As much as I hate the idea of censoring my Internet I do want a bit of control to ensure it's used at the right times and in a safe way. There aren't many options out there, but this sounded promising. It was really easy to set up. Just connect the Internet socket to your main router, download the app and follow the instructions carefully. Then set up some wifi settings on the router (SSID name etc.) and connect the devices you wish to manage to this new wifi (you can repurpose your existing wifi details but if you do this you'll want to disable the wifi on your original router so devices connect to the Gryphon instead). You can also cable one device or switch to the router via the LAN port. On the plus side the parental controls are pretty good. You can set times when the wifi is off for some users or off entirely. You can block sites or just monitor sites visited. It's nice and granular and you can set up different profiles and assign devices to these profiles. Downsides... 1) The app is horrible and unresponsive. You find yourself quitting out and going back in a lot because it's not responding. 2) There is no web interface, so you have to use the app for everything. Not cool, and I can't see how this makes it 'more secure' than a Web interface locked down with a good password on a private network. 3) The biggest problem here is the wifi sucks. It is so weak that it drops off a lot if you aren't sat in the same room as the Gyphon. I know it's a mesh system and you can have a bunch of these around the house but it's easily the weakest wifi I've ever experienced. In short, it's okay if you really need the parental settings, but otherwise there are better, cheaper alternatives.

Fantastic router for keeping your family safe online...
This router has excellent software for keeping you and your family safe online. It has built in malware protection, family groups with access controls, easy individual time limits for people or devices. You can block websites, store web history, block access to bypass these with the use of VPNs, a built in as blocker and safe search filter over rides for Google services and yahoo. You can also restrict access to many major time wasting apps from the Griffin Connect app, blocking or time limiting things like fortnite, facebook, tiktok, facetime, skype, Snapchat and Twitter to name a few. All of this can be done from a router that is the size of the palm of your hand and has a good Wi-Fi range for both 2.4 and 5g networks. Be aware that you need an Android or Apple device to use the app (you can sideload to Amazon Fire).

Ok but better elsewhere
I bought the gryphon guardian so I could block various apps ,etc for my kids computers, and I can’t really complain in that respect. The phone app works pretty well and easy to use. Also customer support was excellent. But unfortunately the WiFi signal to this just isn’t that great, it’s ok through one wall but then it drops off drastically. I tried moving it around between our house but I couldn’t achieve a comfortable signal strength for both our kids devices. You really need two or three of these and then I think they’re are WiFi 6 mesh boxes out that are in a similar price range. I used WiFi test apps to check on my phone and it showed that the strength just couldn’t give a good both computers my kids have. I also had it just reset and reboot on the second day of us, whilst my son was on a teams classroom call. No idea why. I’ve used many modems, routers,p and mesh systems over the years but I just found this too unstable. Going to try a WiFi 6 mesh from Asus instead.

Not a chance to add gryphon guardian as a repeater for gryphon tower
We already have the tower and it works great! One room I. The house has not internet at all so we decided to buy a guardian to have a repeater (bad idea) it never manage to connect to internet even when it was connected via Ethernet cable directly to the tower , so it was impossible to set up ever. Maybe was a faulty router I don’t know Im just send it back and try to find a different solution, it’s a shame is not much info I. How to troubleshoot. In the box the instructions makes you follow in app help, it says to connect via cable the gryphon tower lan to the guardian internet. In the videos says you should only plug the guardian to add repeater. Very confused.

Wrong power supply for Australia, and set up help is too simplified, but otherwise basically good.
Wrong power supply for Australia. Set up help is too simplified - doesn't explain clearly the best set up to piggy back on your existing Wifi router - I had to deduce that from some hints. Associated App could be improved But actually does the Parental Control well.

What I've learned...
So I've got teenagers. The teenagers drove me to this router. Prior to I had a Linksys with no complaints, followed by a Netgear Nighthawk, which was an outstanding peice of hardware, and the Netgear certainly had some parental controls, but it was a little clunky. As a level set I'm more than willing to fiddle with any electronic to get it to work. I have loads of patience and am the IT support for the house. In truth I like it that way and nerding out with the router is not a chore to me. So I buy the Gryphon and am pretty happy with the router. This also coincided with moving to a new home. Said new home is good sized and has 2 floors. The house is roughly 4300 Sq ft. My office ends up being right next to the router and I really did not have any performance complaints. My family though... Ugh. Complaints galore, and I had written some of it off as a new internet provider when we moved. As I said I continue to fiddle and change things hoping to get a better experience for all. What was frustrating is that the router seemed to put out the signal I needed at the edges of the house and while the speeds were not as fast as next to the router they were acceptable when not being heavily taxed. I finally came to the conclusion that I should add a mesh repeater as the system worked especially up where I did most of my work, but the complaints did not subside so my work was not done. I added one repeater which was quite easy. There wasnt a lot of fussing just scan a qr code on the bottom of the repeater in the app and you're off and running. After I added one it was a bit better....but Still getting complaints. So what's a guy gonna do? I decide to just go deeper down the rabbit hole. Adding a second and... Still complaints... Then eventually a third as I had grown tired of the complaining. I also came to the conclusion after speed checking every corner of the house and swapping around positions of the routers for several days in my spare time. Let me offer this peice of info also.... Sony PS4s have TERRIBLE WIFI ANTENNAS. I could not figure out why I couldn't get their machines to pull the speeds I could when testing on my phone.... Standing right next to the dang thing and I'm getting 200mbps more download speed. After some research I figured out that the PS4 unless sitting almost on top of the router is going to struggle to pull reasonable speeds. Do yourself a favor and just run an ethernet cable if you're in that position, or reserve yourself that you're going to have to add repeaters close to the PS4. That's free advice and it took me a long time to figure that one out. So besides all that I finally came to the conclusion is that this setup does not have great wifi signal out of the box, and you have supplement with the mesh system to unlock true performance. So after all my fussing what kind of speed am I getting? Cloat to the main unit I can pull 500mbps down and 450mbps up. Those aren't typos either. The hardware is legit after it's weak antennas are overcome. In the far corners of the house and yard I can pull roughly 100 mbps down and 125 mbps up. That compares to what it was before of 20ish mbps down and 30 mbps up. It's made a big difference. Lots of whining has gone away and now everyone can do anything they want and not worry about everyone else. Everyone can Zoom at the same time, while playing video games, streaming 4k videos, and uploading selfies to social media. So all that withstanding, what about the real reason I bought it? The parental controls are slick and simple! Want the kids to do their homework? Great just kill all the wifi to only their devices all at the push of a button. Want the wifi shutoff at midnight so they don't watch TV all night? Cool. Just set it up that way for that child. Kids going to "questionable" sites. No problem BLOCKED at the push of a button. When I was having complaints about the internet I had rounded up anything extra I could think of that would suck up bandwidth (Wyze Cams, Amazon Echoes, smart switches, light bulbs etc) nd assigned them all to a group in the app as a user. So when complaints started I could add bandwidth quickly with the push of a button by just suspending internet to those items. Assign static IPs with ease. We have a printer that loves to not marry up with the computers. Set that bad boy as static and never worry about it again. Assign whatever name you like to devices. In my house we have close to 100 wifi items to be assigned. Being able to identify by name (and it makes sense to me) is a God send. I was able to catch one of the kids in a lie because someone came over and hooked into our wifi and you can set it to ask permission to join. Mine is not set that way, but when all your devices are hooked up and suddenly a new one shows up... It's pretty obvious. Want 2.4ghz and 5ghz as a choice? Sure no problem. Want to not have to think about it and let the routers do the work. No problem you can do that too. The system really provides a lot of flexibility and performance once I finally got it all dialed in. It did end up being more expensive than what I could have done with a different setup, but I would not have had such a slick interface to deal with the kids. I am now very happy. The kids have been unhappy since it came in the front door....and I don't care! Lol. I hope you can make your teens unhappy soon too.

Perfect to prevent malware and support more devices
This wifi routers is very nice, I can finally use at least 100 devices and more, without using the basic router of my internet provider! It blocks malwares, security threats and you can take it everywhere without having to re-install your devices everytime! Very quick for the technical support! Doesn’t wifi 6 yet, but I couldn’t live without it anymore!

User-friendly and great support
I bought this router four months ago for better parental controls and have been very happy with it. One router is enough to cover my 1600-foot bungalow up to the end of my driveway and backyard, no problem. Parental controls are much easier to customize than on my old D-Link. Also, recently my internet slowed down after a power outage. After determining that the problem was with the Gryphon, I got on the chat with them on their website and they solved my problem with a firmware update within 15 minutes. Great customer service!
