Are these men or women sizes? A 5 is a kids 5?

They are men's size. I believe a 5 in men's would be a 6 1/2 or 7 in women's

If I am a women's size 10 what is recommended an 8 or 9? Since a women's 10 is equivalent to a men's 8 1/2

I had to try several sizes. Go two sizes smaller. I am a 6.5 women's size and finally found the perfect fit with a size 5--which is a youth size. You will love the shoes

These shoes are standard men's size. I wear a 10 and size 10 fits me well and I have pretty wide feet. However, maybe get a size up if he is 12 and still growing pretty steadily.
