The stock handlebar had bar weight ends so the grips are open on the ends. I needed something to cover the holes since I no longer wanted bar end weights (and the stock ones wouldn't work anyway). Decided to get these since they looked pretty decent and were low profile (not to mention super cheaply priced). To everyone saying they are cheap plastic, you must've gotten the wrong item or an outdated item because mine were billet aluminum. You can tell from the clink sound it makes when you drop the Allen screw into them (outside of them just obviously being aluminum). That being said, these are probably way more durable than other reviews here would have you believe. They took me about 2 minutes to install. The key to installing them is that you have to pretighten each bar end to the point where it's already snug when you initially insert them. This will ensure that there is grip on the inner plastic nut so that it won't turn inside the bar. One reviewer said that when loosening one, the nut fell inside the handlebar. If you slowly loosen and pull at the same time, this will not happen. Since the nut is plastic instead of metal, it won't just slide off on it's own. Unlike other reviewers, I don't have any concern of them falling out due to vibrations.
