I purchased this product out of sheer desperation. As soon as I turned 31, I began to struggle with adult (hormonal) acne, mostly around my jawline and the center of my cheeks. I had never had acne like this before and I tried everything. I spent so much money on "miracle" acne cures. What a waste. I ended up at the dermatologist who prescribed me Tazorac cream and Aczone gel. This combo tore my face up. I could not use any product/moisturizer/sunscreen/cleanser that had even a little but of alcohol, or my skin would burn like fire. Using topical RX acne products sent my skin into what I call, hypersensitivity mode. However, there was no other way to combat the acne, that I could find so, I persisted. At this point I could use a mild cleaner (I used cetaphil or vanicream) and for moisturizer, I couldn't find anything that wouldn't burn, so I just doused my face with water as much as I could. For anyone who has ever gone through the tretinoin or retin-a adjustment phase, then you know how important a good moisturizer is. I came across the suggestion for Avene Skin Recovery Cream in an online blog that described how to get through the retin-a purge/dry/peeling/holy cow skin is going crazy phase. I decided to try it since I had already tried everything else. The first time I applied it to my poor acne med ravaged face, it felt like heaven. I will never forget how good it felt to have something truly moisturizing that didn't burn my skin. My only issue with the Skin Recovery Cream is how much it costs for such a little tube. I go through one tube a month, especially during the winter. I can sometimes stretch it to a month and a half. I really wish Avene would make a larger tube for a lower price. I would happily pay $35 dollars for this if the tube would last just a little longer. I have searched and searched for a similar, less expensive product and it just doesn't exist. I always come back to this product. It is very thick, so I only use a small amount. I find that it actually absorbs better if I apply it while my skin is still a little wet, and it feels good to massage it into my face. Once I put it on, I usually let it soak in for about 5 minutes before I put on my make up. This is hands down the best face lotion to use if you are getting used to prescription strength Retin-a or tretinoin. My current routine consists of Glyderm Gentle Facial Cleanser, RX of Retin-a 0.5%, and Avene Skin Recovery Cream. That's it. Sometimes in life, less is truly more.

I have oily problem skin that hyper pigments and is very easily congested. To manage this, I use a lot of AHAs and BHAs in my beauty routine which can unfortunately irritate and sensitize the skin pretty quickly. I love the way my skin looks and feels after I exfoliate but I started to notice that the moisturizers I was using weren't hydrating my skin enough. I heard about this brand through my own research on solutions for sensitive skin and tried this particular product after it was recommended by my favorite makeup artist. I absolutely love it! It is super smooth and hydrating, but doesn't clog my pores at all. Its fragrance free (which is a big bonus for me) and sits well underneath my makeup. Even though it has a rich texture, it doesn't feel sticky or tacky and it makes my skin feel fresh and "plumped". I use this morning and night and have noticed a definite improvement in my skin. It has cleared redness due to skin irritations from the AHA/BHAs, cleared dry patches around my eyes and cheeks, and keeps my skin hydrated all day long so I have that nice healthy glow - Not greasy, which is a challenge if you have oily skin. It seems to balance my skin nicely, so I stay hydrated and comfortable all day instead of an oil slick or dry and flaky like other moisturizers I've tried. My favorite feature is actually the packaging - its great because it keeps the product free from bacteria so I know its sanitary and safe every time I use it. I love this product and would never be without it. I've been using it for over a year now and it's definitely a staple in my beauty routine.

This product absolutely saved my skin. I have hypersensitive, eczema prone skin on top of moderate adult acne. I began using a retinoid and within about 3 months, I suddenly developed irritant dermatitis around my eyes, cheeks, etc. My skin constantly burned, was flushed, red, and swollen. I developed an eczema flair around my eyes and it was so frustrating to deal with. Couldn’t wear makeup for weeks despite my skin looking the worst it’s ever been—it was hard to leave the house unless I absolutely had to. Then I found this guy. A bit pricey, sure, but the soothing effects of this product make it worth every penny. I carried it around with me daily and would lather it on anytime my skin started to feel a bit tight. Within 2 weeks, my skin had become far less reactive than it had been in years. The raw, tender skin around my eyes drank this up and the dermatitis began drastically clearing up despite weeks and weeks of using other limited ingredient, fragrance-free moisturizers. I can’t recommend this line enough! I wish all their products were fragrance free, but their hypersensitive line makes up for that entirely.

I have really struggled this past year with adult acne, blackheads and perorial dermatitis. Its so hard to find a balance that keeps my skin moisurized while calming inflammation from my dermatitis. I have extremely sensitive skin and am always fearful of putting new products on my face. I saw several bloggers talk about this product in their articles and people talk about it in videos about treating perorial dermatitis so I decided to give it a try and ..WOW!! in just a couple days I started to notice a huge difference! My face feels so fresh and smooth, no negative reactions or allergies, my dermatitis bumps and redness have tamed considerably. For the first time in months I dont feel hideous when I show my bear face outside. If you are struggling with perorial dermatitis and /or adult acne, PLEASE try this moisturizer, it does its job without any negative reactions! Its a godsend. I never write reviews but I had to write one for this moisturizer because it has literally improved my life and self esteem and I know how frustrating PD can be! I wash my face with black clay soap (found here on amazon) every morning and night and then add this moisturizer. I use the moisturizer after washing my face 2x a day. Hope this helps someone who is struggling like I was!

This is the only cream that doesn't irritate my skin, doesn't clog pores, doesn't give me any skin issues. The formula is simple. I can't tolerate any alcohols (even the fatty ones) or fragrance, and there are none here. There are also no preservatives. The tube is self-sealing. 50ml 1.7oz lasts me a bit less than 2 months, and I use it every day at night time. It moisturizes my skin really well but stays tacky forever.

So awesome! I got super sensitive skin that reacts to almost everything. So it is not easy to find a cream for me that won't cause bad reaction. Recently I got allergy reaction to one primer. My skin got red, itching, burning, and dry. It was hell. I ordered this cream as my first aid. And it is so great for this purpose! Once I got it and putted it on my face, I felt relieve. My redness was gone in few minutes, itching was minimized, burning was gone. Skin was calmed. I putted cream on for a night and it did recovered my skin! It was magic. I've seen such result on my skin for the first time. It helped with dryness as well, erased flakiness caused by allergy. Balanced was restored. I got even skin tone, no sign of redness that I've used to see even in the morning. So, the cream helped me a lot, it saved me. It got nice thick texture and really helps skin to recover. I won't use it as regular cream on daily basis though. Just as a first aid is good. I think so because of its' thick texture, you can feel that it is rich, so skin will be overwhelmed by getting it everyday. Especially, if you got comb skin, as I do (beside having sensitive skin.)

I could not wait to try it when I received this cream yesterday evening. After showering, I apply it on my super sensitive facial skin, witch is always suffered from itchy and redness. This cream is with no fragrance, no color, easy to spread over my skin, very nature and making no burden to my skin. Usually, after hours I use a cream or lotion, skin start to get less moisturized, but this, different, moisturizing but not greasy. However, never try to use as eye cream. Do not apply it on skin around your eyes. Last night, I apply it over my face and my neck and it calm down my irritable skin, and this morning, my facial skin looked saturated with water, no more itching and redness. My impression at the first time, I will try a long term and get back to update.

I initially came across this Avene product when I tried the 3 piece Avene sample kit system for hyper sensitive skin. (You can buy the sample kit here on Amazon). This had made such a difference in my red, inflamed, tight, and often painful skin, that I won't use anything else. (Even the famous Clinique "yellow moisturizer" that I swore by previously). The system does work for sensitive skin and rosacea (I have both) if you use it every day. After 10 days, I saw a good improvement in skin. After 6 weeks, my skin is so much better. It was really miserable to wake up with your face burning and inflamed every morning. If you are like me, and your sensitive skin is truly a pain, try the Avene. I hope it helps you too.
