I had a favorite winter hat that I wore around the barn. It had a visor and a fleece flap to pull down over my ears or fold up. It started feeling a little tight and left marks across my forehead. This hat seems to have a larger bill so my sun protection is better and the flaps fold down and cover all my ears and back of my neck perfectly. I haven't had a chance to use it yet and hope the fit doesn't leave marks on my forehead. I like the quilted front since it matches my coat.EDITED I wore it yesterday for a dog walk in 28 degree weather with a small breeze and it was very comfortable and warm. It's a bit tricky to put on, trying to get all my ponytail and the rest of the hair to cooperate but once it's on it stays snug and the fleece over the ears and around the back of the neck stays in place and I was never cold. The large bill does a terrific job of blocking out the bright sun. After wearing it for about 40 minutes there were no marks on my forehead when I took it off.

I have a big head. This hat is great. My ears are mostly covered when flaps are down. Very comfy and don't get overheated head as it breaths well but keeps your head warm and protected from wind and snow. The brim protects you from glare and moisture from falling on your glasses. This company's hats are always excellent, well made, not heavy, breathe.

I think you need a big head to wear this . I’m keeping it, but not as cute on me as the model . Looks large on. But works well to keep your ears warm and sun out of your eyes . The pony tail hole is really high up on the hat . Cost is high for what you get .

This is a warmer version of another Trailheads ponytail hat that I bought in the fall. Both are good to protect your eyes and face from the sun. Both work well whether you choose to wear your hair up or down. On colder days both hats can be pulled down to cover your ears. This hat is also less bulky than a wool watchcap that I usually wear so it's better for those brutal winter days when you need a hat and also a hood from your coat to keep your head protected. I find myself reaching for my Trailheads Winter Ponytail Hat instead of my wool hat more often these days because it's warm, comfortable and doesn't leave me with quite as much "hat hair" or static after wearing as other hats do.

I have been looking for a long time for a hat that will stay on in the wind or rain but that also has a visor to keep the sun out of my eyes. I was also hoping for one that would keep my ears warm when we're traveling to cooler climates. When I found these hats on Amazon, I thought I'd give them a try. I ordered two for myself. They fit nicely, were comfortable, and the ear flaps don't look dorky like the plaid mountain hats with the fleece ear pads. My husband tried them on and liked them so much we ordered two more for him. They do have a place for a ponytail but it stays closed if you are not using it. We sprayed ours with Scotchgard and can't wait to bring them to Europe with us.

I read the reviews, followed the size guides and I just have a head that is to small for this hat (well most hats).Designed well, warm and comfortable but didn't stay in place for me as I needed it to int the elements.

Super soft fleece and cute hat. Stretchy enough to fit med - large size women's head circumference comfortably. Will be great for all my farmwork outside in fall/winter/spring.

It is a very comfortable and practical hat. I spend a lot of time outside walking the dog in the cold rainy weather and this is a life savior. The front panel is water resistant and does a good job, it feels very comfortable and the size is good. Pony tail can be out or hidden. It is stretchy enough to hide a knot. Looks better with pony tail out. Perfect for the local weather 5C-10C. For colder temperatures I will be using my Columbia hat, but for mild, rainy days this is just what I need.
