The Fun Drum Book for Kids: Learn to Play Rock, Rudiments, Songs & Solos! No Drum Set Required!

I bought my little guy a mini drum set for his birthday, and then I got this book, thinking I can learn how to play drums with him. I’ve read through the book and it looks very doable. You don’t even need real drums to learn from this book, so I’m happy that his little drum set will be compatible with the lessons in this book.

It’s a great supplemental book with some fun drum beats my son is loving!

I like the book but I'm getting tired of Amazon ruining books by stuffing them into mailboxes. Didn't know where else to say this.

There aren’t many drum books to teach a seven year-old the basics, but this one comes close. It’s easy to understand, but a little childish for kids a little older.

First of all, I love how it gives options to practice without drums for someone that doesn't yet have a full drum kit. This book is excellent for learning to read notation and includes tons of creative exercises. The author even suggests musical examples of well-known songs to listen to where I can hear the specific drum beats that are taught in the book. The book is a really clear and step by step method that makes learning the drums super fun. Highly recommended!!!

Its very good for learning to drum, when you accidentally buy a drum kit on your way to work!

I have been trying to get my kids into music for years, but they've always been intimidated by how complicated and technical the process seemed! (Honestly, I have been too - so how could I help them?? Especially during Covid where I wanted so desperately for them to do something musical - but if I wasn't gonna help them with it, who was??). All those serious words, big books - a few stuffy teachers. Learning an instrument seemed daunting. Especially since my one guy had his heart set on drums and only drums! I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is the first book we have come across (quite by accident!!) that makes the whole process simple. AND there are the YouTube videos as well which I have found INCREDIBLY helpful! I feel like I can actually step in and help my kids. Ironically, ever since I got him this book he is insisting on doing his practices "on his own!". The book is actually that easy to go through, and work with. The author really has a way of simplifying, and being quite funny and 'cute' along the way! This is a great book and my son is learning to drum! And he's practicing. That's why I thought I'd take a minute and write something (I never do!). Highly recommend.

Really enjoying learning from this book, but feel it should include all ages in the title. I am 69 and so glad I bought it. You are never too old! x
