This NOT a powerful blower BUT is a GREAT light weight dust mover
There is another design that has a 'blast' button but costs more. This one is great for blowing off a porch, pollen & debris off your car before you open the door, floor mats, etc. I suspect it's more battery efficient WITHOUT the Blast button. You get a branded B&D battery and charger. I have a B&D vacuum that also uses this battery too. I also have several Porter Cable tools where with a very minor "plastic rail modification," can be used in place of the B&D battery. Effectively I now have THIRTEEN interchangeable batteries and several chargers. PS the B&D charger takes about 6-8 hours to charge the B&D batteries. I DO NOT interchange the batteries/chargers! however, my Porter Cable charger on a '2 times bigger' Porter Cable Battery charges in 30-60 minutes. This allows me to have very GOOD backup batteries!

Just like having a low power vacuum for kitchen crumb clean ups, this is a low power "sweeper" for the garage/walkway/deck/patio
This is a SWEEPER, not a BLOWER. It is called a sweeper because it will never be mistaken for a leaf blower. If you need to blow off grass clippings, dust, very small twigs and other small yard waste from your driveway, walkways, deck or patio this should do the trick fine. If you want to clear your lawn of the leaves in the fall, get a hand rake or buy a corded blower which will have much more power. The LSW221 is very light weight and easy to use. It is small compared to our corded blower and puts out about 25% or less volume of air and at a much reduced speed. I wish it had more power, but then it would weigh more. There are trade offs on every garden tool. You get very portable and easy to carry with this sweeper and lose the ability to blow junk off your lawn and onto your neighbor's :-) We knew what we were getting and my wife likes it so far after a short one day try. I doubt the battery would last long enough to do a long driveway, walkways and patio all in one shot. I'll update on how long it goes before it needs to be recharged. This model does come with only a low capacity 1.5a battery, so I don't have hopes for any sustained sweeping. READ the reviews and understand what you are buying before you buy and give a bad review. If the sweeper fails in 2 months, then write the bad review.

Amazing for the price
Very impressive for the price! I have a small backyard that was absolutely covered with leaves and this worked really well. I also like that it came with a battery that works with my other Black and Decker tools.

Nice, quiet and lightweight - but under powered
Actually, I would have given this a 3.5, but no option for that. What I like is that it is lightweight, really quiet and easy to use. I love the Black and Decker MAX series, so I have multiple batteries which makes swapping easy. That leads me to what I don't like. When I say "Under Powered" I mean it 2 different ways. The air stream is a bit weak - fast, but not much volume. It will blow most of the dust out of my shop and light grass off the driveway, but no way will it be able to herd leaves come fall. The second way it is under powered is the battery. It runs down pretty quickly. Don't be misled when it says it holds a charge for 20 hours. It will NOT run this blower for 20 hours. It really needs a battery with a lot more capacity. I fully understand the trade off between weight and run time, so I can't really fault B&D. I accept this blower for what it is and it basically does what I need it to do.

This blower is great for blowing flat hard surfaces (deck
This blower is great for blowing flat hard surfaces (deck, drive, walks). It is not as powerful as a gas or corded blower, but similar to the way your camera phone is not as good as a DSLR, yet is better in the sense that you actually use it, this is a handy tool because you actually tend to use it, since it is so easy. Can be stored inside the house unlike a gas blower, and can be instantly put to work on a quick clean up, unlike corded where you have to unwind, etc. It works fine for blowing loose leaves out of grass or mulched areas too. Not very effective at blowing sticks, etc, which get caught in grass. A second great use is as a light snow blower. We keep it by the door, and when we walk out to fresh snow, just blow a clear path. Wont work on wet snow or ice, but on a dry snow it can easily clear a path in an inch or two of cover. EDIT: Years later, and still works great. Battery life seems consistent as well.

20V MAX System is good, but this sweeper is a joke
I've got several Black & Decker tools which use the 20V Max battery system which I'm happy with. I got this sweeper in May 2019 to add to that collection, figuring I'd trade a little power for the convenience, but it looks like they turned the dial a little too far towards convenience for this model. Oh, and the plastic build quality means it will likely break on you before you finish your chores. Whoever did the math to come up with the "up to 130 mph" force numbers must have fudged the numbers quite a bit. Unless you're only looking to push fine layers of dirt up into the air and let them settle on a nearby surface, this sweeper will leave you wanting for power. The first minute or two of use on a freshly-charged battery provides a moderate amount of oomph, but after that you're better off trying to catch a good gust of wind to move your leaf piles. In fact, at one pint I was trying to move some scattered leafy yard debris off a garden path and it wouldn't budge with the cold breath put out by this sweeper, so I figured the debris was too heavy -- then a light wind came in the other direction and moved the debris towards me -- and I definitely was not standing outside in a hurricane. This sweeper's output is seriously weak. Beyond it's poor performance, the actual unit's build quality is sub-par. The on-off switch gets stuck on mine after only a month of use -- I can't move it with my thumb anymore so I have to hit it down with something heavy to get it to turn on. It feels like the plastic shell pieces will break if you put it down rough or onto rocks. Maybe it has some indoor uses, but you could just use the blower port on a shop vac or wet/dry vacuum for that. I ended up upgrading to an electric plug-in model (Black & Decker BEBL7000 VACBACK) and I was much more satisfied with the performance, despite only being about $20 more expensive. If you do get the BEBL7000 instead, you will want to invest in some long extension cords, but the power trade-off for the convenience of a battery is simply not worth it.

A great sweeper
This product works exactly as it is supposed to. But it is important for you, the potential buyer, to know what it is supposed to do. It is a sweeper, not a leaf blower. What's the difference, you ask? With this sweeper, you'll be able to get the junk off of your (paved) driveway, and off of your (paved) patio. It is relatively light, it has good air movement, and it is relatively quiet. This object is a sweeper. A leaf blower will lift leaves (dry or wet) off of a lawn, and it will move a lot of leaves into a big pile (the sort of pile a 5 year old wants to jump into). And it will announce to the neighborhood that you are using a big, noisy machine. This object is NOT a leaf blower. It will move dry leaves off of a nice lawn, but the pile of leaves it can make is, frankly, pitiful. A 5 year old will have to be told that this is, in fact, a "pile" of leaves. I have a big, noisy leaf blower, which works great. It blows a lot of leaves - dry or wet. But it is super noisy, a bit heavy, and tethered to an AC outlet I love my sweeper because it is light, it is cordless, it uses the same battery as my B&D drills, and it is not very noisy. A 4 year old can use it without hearing protection. The battery-ness is key: I can sweep the driveway; I can blow out the garage; I can even blow out my wood-working shop - without thinking about which extension cord, which outlet to use, and where my dang hearing protection is.
