Either way, it is a great knife. The belt clip is the best I've ever had. **Q: what steel is used for the blade?** A: 195 stainless steel it's sharp out the box I've been caring mines for almost a year now it does need sharpening so not sure how hard it will to sharpen it? **Q: Can one thumb stud be removed from one side of the blade? I saw a video review that the studs tear up pockets because they stick out so much.** A: 6 years later. Yes. Kind of. You can't take one off but you can grind it down to where it doesn't tear up the pocket. I use a small belt grinder. **Q: Can this knife be carried on an airplane?** A: Uh... maybe if you are an Air Marshall. Otherwise no knife can legally be carried through TSA by a civilian. Excellent value for money on a classy knife! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seriously, for the price, the Sanrenmu 710 can't be beat *by J***R on November 16, 2014* I was impressed with this knife, but I can't give it as thorough of a review as I might like because I gave it to a friend who was deploying and needed a good pocket knife, and he really liked this one. I bought this knife because it was cheap, well reviewed, and because I am never going to be able to afford a real Sebenza, but I wanted to get an idea of what one might feel like without buying a fake. The Sanrenmu 710 is obviously modeled on the Sebenza, but is different enough that I could feel like I had a poor man's Sebenza without feeling like I was buying a knockoff. The fit and finish on this knife is really surprisingly good for the price. Like shockingly good. Everything about this knife speaks to doing the best possible on a budget. Right down to the pocket clip. The pocket clip is obviously not as pretty as the CRK Sebenza that the ergonomics are modeled on (the clip is also tip down unlike the Sebenza), but the clip is more aesthetically pleasing than it needed to be, and worked well. The washers are one bronze one teflon, which was a little strange to me, but fine. The opening was not terribly smooth out of the box, but the advantage of the bronze washer became clear as it got a lot smoother as I worked it. The jimping on the blade is excellent. Very effective and grippy, but not thumb shreddingly so. I want to stress this, because it was this feature in particular that aided the ergonomics that really impressed the friend I gave this to. The blade came sharp, but not shaving sharp. I didn't use this knife as much as I would have liked because I was in the process of reviewing a different knife, but I will buy another one of these to review because I really liked it. It's like a feather in the pocket and feels nice in the hand.
