Good fit for a Pacific NW camera
I received the Peak Designs cover for my camera and tossed it in my pack despite the sun shining on the way out the door for a hike. I was glad I did! As the day progressed and my hike grew longer, it started raining. Slipping the (size small) cover on my Sony a6500 with a Sony 18-105mm was easy and it fit very well with just a slight overhang in the front protecting the front edge of the lens. Functionally, this is a true cover which does not provide a lot of side access ports for your hands, but after reading other comments on those same sock-like covers I felt the Peak Designs would be better constructed and still provide sufficient access. I still feel that way. The way the cover is constructed it leads you to want another Peak Designs innovation--that being their standard connections for straps--those same connections fit easily through the small access holes on the top/sides of the cover. It is easy to mix and match straps and the cover with little effort, giving great flexibility in all shooting situations. Peak Designs products may cost more... but I am finding them well constructed, durable, comfortable, and more essential than I thought they might be. Thanks!

High quality product, if a little fiddly
Very well made and excellent materials. Keep in mind though that it is definitely best used with the peak design capture clip or another bottom-mount accessory. It does have pass throughs for a strap or PD anchors, but they are tricky to set up. The medium was a tiny bit large for my Nikon Z6ii w/ the 24-70 F4, but it gives me room for a larger lens. Definitely keeps the rain off, but you do need to pull it up to access the viewfinder/camera controls which then exposes them to rain. Worked well for me though!

Works well in a light rain storm!
Recently I took a trip to the UK visiting London and Dublin among other places. I wanted to take my sony alpha 6000 mirrorless camera along to take pictures and video of my vacation. But unfortunately my camera is not weather sealed, and considering the reputation for the UK having very wet weather I was concerned a bit. Luckily I previously purchase a peak design camera capture system, so I kinda knew already about this little gem. With the system it lets you cover the camera and lens while it hangs on your back pack strap. It really a great solution actually. I used it and never once felt that the camera was in danger of getting wet. The quality is really nice and the material didn't seem to absorb water, which was great. It kind of reminded me of the material used in a wet suit but a little bit more sturdy. I wouldn't recommend using it in a really heavy storm though. Just use this if you happen to be in an unexpected weather situation where a weather proof backpack is not available. It's also nice to have on if you dont want your camera getting all dinged or scratched up from the occasion bump while its hanging on the outside on a strap or something. Overall, I was very happy with the purchase. I just which it was maybe 5-10 dollars cheaper.

Good product but a practical use problem.
Meh, I didn't really like it and removed it after a week. My problem was getting the proper clearance for the top camera controls. The cover should slide higher over the straps but it's just a couple inches until your hung up on the wide portion of the strap, if I'm explaining it correctly. This makes access to the front portion of the top controls very difficult. The rain protection is there, it fits the A7 rather well with a larger zoom lens. Quality of the material is good as well.

Great Rain Shell and scratch protection for Sony RX10 Mark 2 (RX10ii)
The Peak Design Small Rain cover is a great weather protector for my camera. First, my setup is a Sony RX10 Mark 2 with the Matin Deluxe Neoprene Comfort Strap with Quick Release (JU0160). I also have the Sony LCJRXE/B Premium Jacket Case that works well with the Matin neck strap. The Peak Design Shell is designed to work best with the Peak Design neck straps. This is apparent when I tried to slide the quick release buckles of the Matin strap through the strap slots in the Peak Design Shell. The Matin buckles did not fit, so I cut an incision in the Peak Design Shell just large enough for the Matin buckles to fit through. I did this because the Peak Design Rain Shell does not fit inside the Sony Premium Jacket case while attached to the camera. You have to slide the Peak Design Rain Shell off the Sony RX10ii to put it in the Sony Jacket Case. I do this because the Sony Jacket case offers more protection (more padding) when walking around. So I have to switch between the Jacket Case and the Rain Shell, and while a hassle, is acceptable for me. I need a different case depending on my activity and weather. I would recommend the Peak Design Shell Rain Cover, size small, for the Sony RX10 Mark 2. The Shell Rain cover works best with Peak Design straps, but can work with others with little or no modification. For a day outing, this case is great. I purchased this case for a 10 day backpacking trip where weight is a premium. This case is very light and gives me the weather protection I wanted. The Sony RX10 M2 is weather "resistant", and I wanted to give my $1200 camera the extra advantage of the Peak Design Rain Shell cover. I have already had the camera and case out in a rain storm (good downpour). Case was wet on the outside, and the camera had only slight dampness, and that was where the camera was touching me or where I put my wet hands on the camera trying to take photos in the rain. I think Peak Design should make the strap slots a little larger to accommodate buckles of other straps, but that is my only complaint.

Difficult camera operation with Peak Design cover/shell installed...
My Camera; 2021 Sony A6400, 18-135mm telephoto lens. Peak Design Cover: size Small Pro: 1-good materials, 2-quality construction, 3-stretchable, cinches tight where needs to be. Great as ONLY a water/rain resistant & dust cover, protects camera from various bumps if Capture Clip on belt and/or hip. Bulky cover but does the job. Cons: 1-Poor fit to camera, fit area from lens to the camera main body is askew, not straight. See image of how front cover fits on lens but camera is off to the side in the back portion of the cover. Adds a crumpled appearance and loose, gap fitting. 2-Bulk of material bunches up underneath, interferes with easily clipping into the Peak Design Capture, but working material down tight you can then clip camera-shell case into the Capture Clip. 3- as much as I tried, the fitting around front of lens near shell lens hood is very loose. Can work it's way forward over the lens or partially blocking lens view. Hard to shoot an image if need to do do quickly. 4-cannot operate manual zoom on 18-135mm lens with this cover installed. Probably better for fixed prime lens. 5-By the time you lift off rear portion of camera cover (there is no clear panel on back of cover), turn on camera etc, the shot/picture opportunity often is missed. 6-Not easy to fit Capture strap clips thru the cover to attach Leash Camera strap. Due to back cover not squarely aligned with camera body being askew to front of lens location. Not what I expected design & function wise from Peak Design company for this product. Keeping it just as a dust/rain cover, extra outside camera protection when carrying on my Capture Clip. Expensive $$ for just a dust cover.....but SOME protection is better than none.

durable, reliable and well designed but only you can determine if it's a good value.
Probably one of the most thought out and overdesigned rain covers for a camera ever devised. However, it manages to have no faults, from what I can perceive while using it. It even manages to fold into itself for compactness, giving it more reason to live in your bag at all times. Medium is sized just right to fit a mirrorless camera, like my Fujifilm X-T2, combined with the 16-55mm ƒ/2.8 lens. It's a little short when used with my 50-140mm ƒ/2.8 lens. Both lenses and camera body are weather resistant but the cover serves to ensure everything stays dry when the rain is really pissing down, as it does here in Seattle. The cover has a small lip, in case you aren't using your lens hood. Secured by an internal bungee, it works with anything up to 82mm in diameter, it seems, maybe even larger. The rear also has a bungee to secure around the camera body when not in use. All in all, it works and is made from durable materials. May not be worth the price to you, but it's better than buying plastic bags repeatedly.

Great camera cover if you never take it off or use the camera.
Product is great for protecting camera from becoming wet - if you never use it. But to get it to work, you need to buy Peak's proprietary strap to hang the camera around your neck. And to shoot pics, you need to uncover the camera to look into the eyefinder or the screen, so the camera gets wet when you do that. Moreover, focusing the lens is a PITA because it's hard to turn the barrel thru the thick neoprene cover and you cannot extend or retract the lens fully and I felt it was messing up the focusing mechanism of the lens. The product is just a disaster.

Great Product
This is an excellent shell for a DSLR camera. We were looking for something that would offer us protection from light rain and mist but not be bulky or cumbersome to use. This works perfectly. It looks sleek, weights almost nothing, and repelles water very well. It’s also the only product that I’ve ever found that fills this particular niche. Just make sure to check their sizing guide because we ended up exchanging for a small after not doing or initial research.
