Love this Cookbook! The recipes WORK.
I bought this book since I am a huge fan of Raffa's Sourdough cookbook, and I wanted to try her recipes for things other than bread. I am just as happy with The Clever Cookbook as I am with Artisan Sourdough Made Simple -- the recipes are straightforward, simple in the best way, and delicious. I've made several of them twice or more times over already, and had the Cauliflower Bolognese tonight -- for two of us, this was a filling dinner plus two more lunches. The recipes are family friendly and can be for omnivores, vegetarians or vegans, they are so adaptable. I love making the Vegetable Soup and adding hot curry and light coconut milk (the canned type) -- put that over brown or Basmati rice and you have dinner. Most of the recipes are pretty quick, as well, around an hour start to finish and suitable for guests, kids, families, or just the two of you (several of these recipes like the Cauliflower Bolognese make it easy to feed a family healthy food on a budget). I have made the 20-Minute Skillet Baked Shrimp and Feta several times, and for company -- with a nice loaf of bread, salad, and a dessert, it's an easy, elegant meal for 2-4 people. We keep a tub of the garlic butter in the fridge and I use it for quick garlic bread. If you want to learn how to be creative with quick, healthy ingredients and make recipes that are simple but also really good, try this book. It's for beginning cooks as well as experienced -- Raffa encourages you to experiment and get creative. Enjoy!

Another great book by Emilie.
I had purchased and love Emilie’s sourdough book. In fact, I purchased another copy for my daughter. Emilie’s an excellent teacher and takes the fear out of baking sourdough.I certainly don’t need more cookbooks, but I was curious about what Emilie would share in the The Clever Carrot Cookbook since her other book is so helpful. I am glad I purchased it! The book is filled with all sorts of cooking shortcuts. I look forward to cooking my way through this book.I hope she publishes more cookbooks.

Wonderfully written cookbook with tips and recipes that are very easy to follow and DELICIOUS! Just wish it was longer.....
This has a BUNCH of great recipes. I am almost 60 years old and have been an avid cookbook junkie practically all my life, long before being a "Foodie" was even a "thing"! This cookbook really holds it own, it gives newbie cooks just enough of the basics so they aren't lost without wasting too much time for the old timers or more experienced cooks to lose interest. The recipes are concise and easy to follow and prepare. I was thrilled with her "No stir risotto" which is my daughter's absolute favorite dish that she loves but has no time to prepare, as she works pretty much 24/7 but with this recipe she can now indulge in what once was pretty much only reserved for a holiday meal! I also loved her tips on the concentrated stock cubes, what a clever way to have homemade chicken stock available without wasting valuable freezer space! Take a peek inside (on Amazon's "LOOK" feature) I am sure it will wet your appetite to try some of the other delicious sounding/written recipes and tips this book contains. I will definitely be looking for any future cook books from Ms Emilie, this one is very, VERY good! *and very reasonably priced. It would make an excellent gift for anyone setting up housekeeping on their own.Only con I can think of is that I wish it was twice as big, I didn't want it to end and it would have been nice if there was a larger dessert section.

Great cookbook! You need this if you are busy professional with little time for cooking whole and healthy food for your family.
Just like her amazing blog, The Clever Carrot, Emily's book is full of recipes that provide you with time-saving tips & tricks and get-ahead strategies to have dinner on the table for your family with everyday ingredients from your pantry. Each recipe is written in ordinary language and with the care of a mom who wants to make sure her kids succeed. The only prerequisite to cooking from this book is to know how to read. As you read through the recipes, you can easily tell that they are written for busy moms, like Emily, who are juggling through life and trying to feed their families with wholesome, healthy and delicious food.So far, I have cooked more than 10 recipes from this book and every single one of them turned out great. The fact that they are all made with everyday ingredients, that most of us have in our pantries will make your life easier without having to make a trip to the store. Therefore, if you are in the market for a cookbook that is full of comfort food recipes that you can make now, today, in your very own kitchen, buy this book and cook the heck out of it.

Hard to navigate but love the recipes
I bought this because I love some of Emilie's recipes that I found online.I have it on my Kindle Paperwhite but it is so difficult to find specific recipes. I was looking for her easy sourdough sandwich bread. It was not under "bread" "easy" or "sourdough" in the index. Yu have to scroll through the entire index to search as there is no "search" option where you can type in what you are looking for. Very disappointing.

Love this cookbook!!
I’m of fan of the Clever Carrot blog, so I was very excited to get Emilie’s book and I have to say it’s everything I expected and MORE! I expected to see beautiful, mouthwatering photography that the author is known for. I expected to smile when I opened the book as I poured through the pages. What I didn’t expect was the interesting way the book is layed out, with tips and strategies that inspired me to want to dive right in. The recipes are VERY approachable from beginners to veterans alike. So far I have made the spaghetti cauliflower bolognese (wow, delicious!), the black bean soup and some recipes with the compound butter! I now know that this is a cookbook I will reach for over and over again. There’s nothing worse than buying a cookbook and maybe make one recipe, then forget about it. That’s not the case here. So far I couldn’t be more delighted!! Oh, and also important to note, this book includes gluten free and vegetarian recipes. So there really is something for everyone!
