I've learned more about Irish mythology in the first ten pages of this book then I ever did in primary or secondary school in Ireland.The material is well referenced, expansive but still put together in a fashion that keeps you interested to learn more.This book should be required reading at school level, it's depth and accessibility would make every student more interested in their own culture, it's formation and the stories, characters and traditions that helped make this country so unique.

Another pleasurable volume to add to my collection. Unfortunate these aren't hard backs and will have to be careful with them to stand the test of time. Very valuable to have as a history 'buff'.

The Celtic past.
A thoroughly well researched and carefully written history of Celtic beliefs in our distant past. Subsequent discoveries have both added to and adjusted some of what was known about the Celts when Mr. Rolleston wrote his book, but it's still a 'one volume reference book' on the subject.

Excellently written, wonderful pictures but no index.
An excellent book in many ways - the pictures in it are outstanding. But it has no index, which in a book of this kind I consider a serious shortcoming.
