Mulan - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook (The Disney Collection #19)

A great story with catchy songs, a heroine who appeals to boys and girls, lots of battle action, and a happy romantic ending. My two grandsons, aged 3 and 5, have watched it more than thirty times since we got it a month ago. They love the songs.

A full in-depth review of Mulan will hopefully be available soon on my own film and TV review site (link in my Amazon profile!)Mulan was on a list I'd been given of Dinsey films I needed to finally catch up on, and of the films on that last, Mulan ranks up as one of my highlights. I had a blast watching this - the animation is vibrant, the colours pop off the screen and it passes my ultimate test: as someone who really doesn't like musicals, I even enjoyed the musical numbers. Mulan herself easily ranks up among the likes of Elsa as one of the best Disney Princesses to me - I really enjoyed this character. To top it all off, the film even toys around with some interesting themes such as war and bisexuality. I can understand why characters like Li Shang would be regarded as bisexual icons and quite rightly. Although anything spoken and overt is sadly not going to happen in a 90s Disney film, or heck even in their output today beyond their fleeting and paltry attempts to score a couple of points, I'll take what I can get. There are some potentially troubling ways you could view Mulan's approach to gender, which I can understand, but personally I feel it does a pretty great job of breaking down gender stereotypes. This is just a really fun movie and unquestionably gets a thumbs up from me!

I had not seen this Disney film until recently as I had assumed that as it is not one of the most popular, maybe it wasn't so good. I m glad I saw it with my 12 year old daughter on a "go back to Disney " girls night in. It's a beautifully told story of a girl who rejects the traditional female role in China and goes to war as a soldier in order to try and save her father's life. It's not got those girly magical touches that the traditional Disney film has and the "love interest " is a man who ultimately comes to her having witnessed her prowess and friendship as a soldier. Whilst in a way this is a departure from what I am used to it was a really welcome changes from the usual dress up in a ball gown and be saved by a prince stereotype. Very refreshing and well worth a view. The typical funny animal Disney sidekick is a dragon played by Eddie Murphy and it doesn't really work that well for me - that's why I've given it a 4 not a 5 star review

This film should be in everyone’s collection. There is something in their movie for the whole family and it absolutely stands the test of time. I have purchased the 4K version in the Amazon sale for around £5 and I consider that to be an absolute bargain. With a great story line, superb casting and a magical soundtrack, this is a classic.Highly Recommended- Buy with Confidence.I do not receive any payment or free goods for writing these reviews. One of the best Disney titles in my opinion, suitable for all ages and genders.Good story, and some catchy songs. Great voiceovers from well known stars. Even Donny Osmond sings his way in it.

Brilliant service and excellent value for money.

I was so glad to be able to find this great copy of a Disney classic.As I am studying German its is great to watch the film in the language, with the option of German/English subtitles.Not only can you watch it in German but you can also watch it on this DVD in Italian and French which is brilliant as I am also studying those languages :)Great film, many languages with an English option.If you are studying any of the mentioned languages, or you just want an english copy of this classic Disney Film I highly recommend that you buy this DVD!
