So im not disappointed honestly, I am a natural red head. I decided to try this and it came out very pretty I think. Make sure you apply the serum to the ends of your hair first before you put the hair on. I read some previous reviews and I think people were adding the serum to the mixture container. That is not the correct way to do it make sure to read directions. I left the conditioner on for about a hr N a half and it made my hair very shiny and soft. One picture is out if the sun and one is in the sun , so you can see the difference in the lighting.

I love this color. The first time I wasn't sure, it seemed too bright in a bad way. The second time it was perfect. It would be nice if the color was sold in a local store but as long as I can get this color I am happy. Also, watch what you get in the package. The first time there was just the color, developer and conditioner. My hair felt great I was just shocked at how bright the color was. The second time there was an additive in to "protect the ends from drying" IT MADE IT WORSE. So just be careful if what it comes with.

Ordered this because I was trying to get dark red roots. I’ve used the following Schwarzkopf colors on my roots before: 1.8 Ruby Noir, 4.2 Mahogany Red, 5.29 Vintage Red, & 5.22 Ruby Red. The closest I’ve gotten to my desired result is 1.8 Ruby Noir, but it quickly fades to a red brick/brown after 2-3 washes. Was trying to go more cool toned. After reading the reviews of how burgundy/dark red this turns out, I decided to give it a try. It looks extremely dark purple, basically black on dark auburn roots. (As seen in attached picture: Top = Before, Bottom = After) Even after shampooing it with a clarifying shampoo, the color did not seem to fade. The color is not what I was expecting - it’s much darker than I thought it would turn out, but the product works as shown on the box and in the sample pictures. Will probably continue using clarifying shampoos to try fading the color more. Texture is soft as Schwarzkopf normally is. I tend not to use other brands because I feel Schwarzkopf does a good job at maintaining softness. Smell is also average for Schwarzkopf. I tend not to use other brands because of this issue also.

accessories - the box only has gloves and they rip easily; I stained my left thumb smell - there is a slight chemical smell that did not bother me, but if you are very sensitive to smell - you might not like it quantity - I felt that there was plenty of material to cover my hair and even a little too much. I have medium shoulder length, full head of hair, and I had no problem covering everything instructions - very easy to follow, all tubes are numbered according to order in which you use them staining - it stained the skin all over. but as the instructions say - they all come right off with a basic tonic or lotion rinse - this is the weird part; there was TOO MUCH washing out to be done; the water was copper red (I used Rich Caviar color). The water splashes stained the shower stall too, but since I noticed them - I cleaned them right away hair quality - the hair looks great; feels very full volume; color is deep and uniform allergy - I had no irritation at all; I kept the hair color on for 40 minutes; no allergy 24 hours later color - I have dark brown hair with grown out highlights (copper color at this point); this hair color covered everything very uniform and same shade - from roots to tips Overall, good quality hair color. Will have to see how long it lasts.

I am receiving no $$ for this review. I have usually used demi or semi permanent hair color, I hate the usual drying effect of permanent dye. That said, I started using the Rich Caviar this year for my grey coverage ( parameter hair at roots) & love the shine & softness. Schwartzkopf comes with a pre- color serum in the box, as well as a sufficient amount of conditioner for my shoulder length hair. Do not wash it, just condition, for first 24 hrs. It left scalp purply- red, but that's ok and what head bands are for, for a day! I wash once a week and this color lasts at least 3 weeks for me, depending on sun exposure.... I am over 60, so greying much more now, but not ready to show it 😍!!! Thank u Rich Caviar.

Here’s a before and after. At first when I looked in the mirror I thought it was just black and was disappointed, but when I went outside the sun shining on it was SUCH a beautiful color. It looks like the $300 coloring I paid for in Feb, but washed out in like 3 washes. Hopefully this lasts longer. But $22 (used two boxes) is a lot better than $300 even if it washes out as soon as my professionally done hair.

Latest Update: Please read the whole review, but I learned something new. I decided to dig through some reviews of others who got the rich caviar. Others also complained about some of the same things. Another poster mentioned that the creme came out white and then got darker later. That's what happened to mine, and my hair also came out almost black. Another poster said her product never developed past orange. I did think it was strange that the product stayed orange for so long. Another mentioned having allergic reactions, and never having had that before... My conclusion is that you might want to try buying it at the store first to see what it SHOULD look like. That way you can compare. I think there may have been some inconsistencies in production. I used to work for Joico so I am familiar with the manufacturing process of dyes, shampoos and so on. Here is my original review: Okay, I'm leaving this review off the first 2 boxes I bought. In general, I'm sensing some inconsistencies with this product. 1. The first time I used this the color came out absolutely stunning. I literally had never seen a more gorgeous hair color/silk/shine in my life. It was nothing like the burgundies or purples you're used to. I don't think I had ever seen this particular color ever in my entire life. It was such a different shade of purple. It was breathtakingly beautiful (rich caviar). With that said, I got a massive allergic reaction to it the first time. I had never had a reaction in my entire life to any dye, and I've dyed my hair a lot.. 2. I let my hair grow out about 2 inches before coloring again so whatever color it's supposed to have should have shown perfectly at my roots. I did not have an allergic reaction this time, but the color came out MUCH blacker (soft black) and I can only see the color (purple) in the sun or if I lift my hair up to the light. When the light shines down on my hair you would have no idea that it's not soft black. I'm a little disappointed. I want that "rich caviar" color very much. I will try this one more time (later on when my roots grow out again), and if it doesn't work then I'll have to find something else with that same color. Notes: The color both times came out significantly darker than what's on the front of the box. I really don't understand why they use that image. The color is correct, but the tone in reality is much darker. I think I'd need blonde hair to achieve the color on the box, and I already have dark/soft-ash black hair naturally. Cons: The smell is horrific. Probably one of the worst smelling box dyes I've ever used.

Long lasting, durable, great quality, perfect color

The colour is a bit darker than I had anticipated but when in the light it's a great colour, I get compliments from strangers all the time on the colour. And it didn't dry out my hair at all... For a boxed die, I am very impressed!

Love love love this colour and brand! I've used it 3 times now! Mixes orange tho, but darkens quickly. Looks almost black until a couple washes later.

The color is nice but even after washing my hair for an hour....the water was still colored......had an itchy scalp....

It works fine but the smell is strong and it's been 7 day and my hair is still bleeding color. At what point is there just no hair color left.
