I've purchased this several times now and my family and I really enjoy it despite the other reviews. The issue isn't the powder, it's the technique. This makes an incredibly authentic, delicious sahlep with a rich, creamy texture. Try this: - 4 cups whole milk - 1 tablespoon sahlep powder - 4–5 mastic tear drops - 4 tablespoons sugar or to taste - 1 teaspoon orange blossom water (add at the end) - Cinnamon for topping Blend the sahlep powder, 3/4 cup of the cold milk, the sugar, and the mastic until smooth. Add to the remaining milk in a nonstick 5-quart pot and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, for 5–10 minutes until thick. Stir in the orange blossom water and top with cinnamon. Don't let the reviews fool you. I used a bag that had been expired and it still came out great. If you prepare it this way, you'll get an authentic, comforting cup of sahlep... Lastly, real sahlep made from ground orchid tubers is essentially a starch and has a mild floral aroma on its own. The traditional fragrance comes from ingredients like mastic and orange blossom water, so don't expect the powder itself to be strongly scented.

The listing clearly advertises this product as 100% pure, with the only ingredient shown as ground Orchis mascula root (at least at the time I purchased it). Unfortunately, the product I received contains corn starch as an additional ingredient. This is not what was advertised, and for the price charged, I find this completely unacceptable. Accurate ingredient labeling is essential, and the product should match the description provided in the listing.

My family is from Jordan where salep is a winter tradition. My mom has been wistful for true salep for years; none of the mixes can come close and all have too much sugar, so when I found this I was excited and ordered it immediately. It was disappointing, to say the least. I used twice as much as the recipe on the back indicated and it was still not thick enough, nor does the salep have any flavor. And it's completely nonreturnable or refundable, so we're stick with it. It would have been a good value if it was actually any good

This Sahlep had an odor that I thought maybe was just me having a sensitive nose. Tried to make a sahlep drink with a very minute amount, down to a little less than what was described on the label. Nonetheless the drink tasted like the smell which made it unbearable to let cool. I’m not pregnant and in fact, my boyfriend also commented on the taste/odor which rules out me having a sensitive nose. In my review I’m including a picture of what this is and comparing it to what you get from Iran/Turkey. The tastes and smell are also completely different. The pure sahlep from Turkey has no odor and is way more white
