ISO 9001:2015 from black and white to full-HD
I started with a Company as their new Quality Manager knowing a lot about production, engineering, day to day QC and lab stuff, but fell drastically short in the ISO 9001:2015 arena. It was clearly what I needed the fastest education in when I took this job - especially since we had a surveillance audit 90 days after i started. So I rolled the dice on this book and it is hands down, by FAR the best money I've spent this year on anything job-related or in my personal life. Craig Cochran is like getting coached by a friend who wants you to win. Each clause and sub-clause is explained in NIV language and not King James language, and Craig offers incredible insight on the correct *interpretation and meaning* of what the standard says. In other words, the ISO standard says "XYZ", but what does that mean to me? - and what would an auditor expect to see? Craig answers all these questions in a way that makes SENSE, clause by clause. Nothing is left out. If you are in a position like me, where the weight of the QMS fell on your shoulders and there's a lot you don't understand, you would be crazy not to get this book. This book made me look like a hero to my new company - like they made a good investment in me, and it's all because of this book. Craig has a way of making the plain things the main things and the main things the plain things. This book is like having a cheat code to the ISO world. I actually think I understand all this stuff now! THANK YOU CRAIG COCHRAN!!!!

Excellent Resource for ISO9001:2015
I read Craig Cochran’s book along with another authors book recently published on the ISO9001:2015 standard that was released last fall and found Craig’s book to be a better resource. I found a wealth of information to assist in our planning and ultimate conversion to the 2015 version of the standard. Craig’s descriptions are detailed enough that by reading the book and the ISO9001:2015 standard together we understood what we need to do. Each section of the standard is covered with notes of what has changed and what has stayed the same. Frequently asked questions are included, real world examples, tips and details of suggested ways to address the standards requirements. Numerous tables provide information on the various areas such as interested parties, process matrix, risk assessment, and others. The last chapter and appendixes provide guidance on implementation or moving an existing certification to the 2015 version. Craig has been very responsive to questions that I have emailed to him which is very helpful. As an ISO9001 practitioner for over 20 years dating back to the 1st itineration of the standard I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to implement or upgrade their Quality Management System to ISO9001:2015.

Cleared my "fog" and confusion.
I really loved this book. It took me step by step and organized all the feathers in my brain from trying to read a bunch of other author's blogs, interpretations, etc.,I initially learned of ISO 9001:2015 in Argentina, and then started to dig deeper to see if what I thought I heard was accurate. Things have changed and the practical applicability of 2015 version will be transformational. However, just like when someone starts working in the military world or the international development world, quality experts have their own lingo and ISO was written to that audience. A newcomer feels like they were transported to a different planet with breathable air and no reference points or map. Cochran painstakingly took 2008 and "crosswalked it" where he could to 2015. Where there was no crosswalk or path, he just dissects it and explain it in "human people terms". Reading it twice enabled me to figure out how to work with the new standards and implement it for my clients who are interested and never did 2008, because without 4.1 and 4.2 ISO 9001:2008 didn't apply very well to their situation. Thanks Craig. Well done!

The Only ISO 9001:2015 Guide You Will Need
This is the only book you will need to help you achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification.Trust me, I have four other books related to the 2015 Standard that have been gathering dust after purchasing Mr.Cochran's book. His book became my "Bible" during our transition from the 2008 ISO 9001 Standard. I referred to the book early and often and I really appreciated the "Plain English" explanations and examples provided throughout. The author has also added many helpful examples that will assist you in sorting out areas such as "Context", "Risk-Based Thinking", and "Interested Parties". I also used the book as a "tie-breaker" to settle the occasional differences of opinion that arise when interpreting a new Standard. From my point of view this was money well-spent and my proof is the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate we proudly display. A 2021 follow-up to my original review- I am now retired and working as a Contract Auditor in the ISO 9001-2015 sector. Mr.Cochran's book is on my office bookshelf and referred to frequently during audit preparation time.

Good, but there are a few oddities.
After getting about 1/3 of the way through the book, I'm wondering if Mr. Cochran based this text on a draft copy of ISO 9001: 2015.The italicized text in the book generally has the same meaning as the actual text from ISO 9001: 2015, but the two commonly don't mach each other. For example:Section 5.2.1 Establishing the quality policy:The book reads"Fits the organization's purpose, environment, and strategy"ISO 9001: 2015 reads "is appropriate to the purpose and context of the organization and supports its strategic direction;"There are similar differences throughout the book.Otherwise the book is informative and it's been a good resource.
